: stuck at 10lbs
ToMeGuN 07-12-2005, 10:59 PM Bought my car last week and noticed that i was just making 10lbs of
boost... So i call my dealership and they tell me "GM is having problems
with some cars not making the 12.5lb's that there supposed to" and GM is
going to have a recall in the next few weeks.
Just wanted to know if anyone else has had this same problem.
P.S. Didn't matter if it was 68 or 100 degrees still only made 10lbs :(

Really man that sucks but a least you will get your car fixed. And welcome to the site.
are they really going to have a recall?
clownhair 07-13-2005, 09:30 AM get a mechanical boost guage, and find out what your really making.
phxSS 07-13-2005, 06:37 PM We don't have mechanical boost gages  . That's ghetto if we don't
Dan Richards 07-13-2005, 07:22 PM We don't have mechanical boost gages  . That's ghetto if we don't
You car has to have a sensor to tell the ECM how much boost you're making, why not let the BCM use it too to display a readout?
BizoCG 07-13-2005, 10:01 PM Mine does that too it only hits about 10. boost see thats another thing why I should sale this thing that would be the 5th time going back to the dealership want a joke. you know Chev as one the right with there ads on tv...... Like A Rock OOOO Like A Rock....... What next????
phxSS 07-13-2005, 11:24 PM How many probs you having with ur car bizo?
CoBIZZLE 07-14-2005, 09:50 AM Yeah, bizo, you might wanna look into the lemon law, my buddy got a brand new SRT-4 after about 12K miles, so you shouldnt have much of a problem if you're having repetitive problems. Hopefully if you can get another SS then the new one would be great!
BizoCG 07-14-2005, 09:50 AM To many. 2 where the check engine light came on and 1 other thing were some gaurd feel off under the car.
Zenkat 07-14-2005, 10:47 PM That guard under the car is junk. I would have pulled that off the second the car rolled into the garage, but its not my car to pull things off of. It later fell off on its own lol.
Apparently the little plastic tabs that hold it on are junk.
DJOrtiz 07-14-2005, 11:46 PM i really dont know much about the supercharger system but... do you get vac reading on your boost gauge when your not applying gas?
yeah this sucks if you guys are having problems.... do you guys know if your cars are hand built? our 03s were half hand-built...
YellowSXT 07-15-2005, 10:55 AM Yeah, bizo, you might wanna look into the lemon law, my buddy got a brand new SRT-4 after about 12K miles, so you shouldnt have much of a problem if you're having repetitive problems. Hopefully if you can get another SS then the new one would be great!
Lucky Him... What dealer was it?
BizoCG 07-15-2005, 10:57 AM About that peace under the car when it fell off I brought my car back in to get it put back on I asked the guy if I need it and he told me ya of course I asked him what was it for and he told me that its for it rains anyways I asked him I am going to lose some boost he said ya. So I guess if you take it off you may gain a little boost. Has anyone notice a differece in that??????
YellowSXT 07-15-2005, 01:58 PM I never heard of anyone talking about this...
CoBIZZLE 07-15-2005, 11:44 PM Lucky Him... What dealer was it?

REDLX347 07-16-2005, 12:52 AM my car hits 12 psi in 2 gear and up but in first it only hits 10 maybe the air you drive in is not as good my car also went 14.6 @ 96 bone stock in the heat 84 degrees

Turner427 07-18-2005, 03:19 PM I just purchased my SS 1 week ago and mine only makes 8-9lbs of boost. Should I be calling my dealership?
phxSS 07-18-2005, 06:59 PM I can't remember the last time it was 86 degrees here....
Oh wait, it's 86 AT THREE O'CLOCK IN THE FRIGGIN' MORNING!!
Don't you just love it!!!!!!:)
West Coast weather is teh_shit!!!!!!
Razz2o4 08-13-2005, 11:24 PM I too am onlly boosting at 10PSI Should I be calling the dealership on this one?
The Alex 08-14-2005, 10:21 AM This may be a dumb question, but i dont even know how to read the boost gauge on my car. I know alot about cars but i have never dealt with a S/C before and i dont know how to read it. Anyone willing to help me out with that?
When its at idle it sits at the 20 mark on the lower part of the gauge not at the zero so that why im confused at the whole thing.
Rocky 08-14-2005, 10:34 AM everything below the 0 mark is inches of vacuum or hg. this is the vacuum your engine is making while not under any boost. once the needle goes above the 0 mark that is the boost being created be the supercharger. should peak out at 12 psi
The Alex 08-14-2005, 10:38 AM Thanks man i appreciate it. You ROCK Y lol.
Sp00ner 08-14-2005, 11:02 AM The boost is affected by numerous weather conditions as well guys. The Psi-Fi kit gives a boost upgrade between 4 and 6 psi, depending on weather. It's not like a turbo, where you have a device limiting boost. I'm not sure what kinda of recall they can have, the Eaton makes boost solely based on the speed of the internal rotors. Now, if there is a leak in the system, intercooler, intake manifold, etc, you can 'loose' boost. Someone should stick a mechical boost gauge to the intake manifold, and see what the problem is first. I've had both mech. and elec. boost gauge (Interceptor), and I can tell you, I don't make the exact same amount of boost everyday. Today, it's nice and cool, and perfect out. Car pings a little over 12... give me a day where it's 100 and humid, it's gonna make 11...
You can also put some soapy water around the blower and intake...
OH! Our Redlines came with the intercooler pump wired incorrectly on some cars, that's something else to check as well.
blink30056 08-14-2005, 05:40 PM the only time my ss sc goes about like 10 psi is when im flooring the gas and doing about 80 mph.. does that sound right, or do u think i should have it checked out further?
c7015 08-14-2005, 06:06 PM How Many KMs do you guys with low boost have on your car ...lots of people have not been hitting full boost till after 1400 Miles ...
blink30056 08-14-2005, 06:16 PM i have over 2,000 miles on it .. jus not sure if its normal to only hit 12.5 at a high mph
Rocky 08-14-2005, 07:35 PM the only time my ss sc goes about like 10 psi is when im flooring the gas and doing about 80 mph.. does that sound right, or do u think i should have it checked out further?
if you are flooring it at 80 and only in 5th it wont make the full 12psi the rpms are too low. you wont get full 12psi till higher rpm
blink30056 08-14-2005, 09:41 PM so i should only be making 12 psi when im pushing the car.. not driving daily?
