Ronnie Pendergrass 07-15-2005, 11:13 PM How much weight is this under the stock hood? How much $$$$$$$. Looks DAMN GOOD btw. espically where the center of the hood is black.
CoBIZZLE 07-15-2005, 11:27 PM Yeah that looks HOT! I'll be buyin one regardless of price, prolly from modern! :D
Dan Richards 07-15-2005, 11:35 PM Yet another reason I need a Cobalt! Nice finish!
CoBIZZLE 07-15-2005, 11:38 PM It appears black on the bottom side, is it just layered in cf??? That would suck.... :(
Ronnie Pendergrass 07-15-2005, 11:40 PM I wonder what we are all doing up at this hour?? :)
CoBIZZLE 07-15-2005, 11:41 PM Im over at my girls house and she's asleep, so Im killin time....
Ronnie Pendergrass 07-15-2005, 11:50 PM someone needs to wake dom up so he can answer some ?s about this hood, and take my credit card info!!
CoBIZZLE 07-15-2005, 11:51 PM lololololol
WAKE UP BUDDY!!! :D
Does anyone know about the weight of the stock hood?
BTW I think the pics in his avatar and profile are photochops...
Dan Richards 07-15-2005, 11:53 PM It appears black on the bottom side, is it just layered in cf??? That would suck.... :(
You'd rather it be bare CF on the backside? Backsides are usually ugly, but the painted (and reinforced!) backside looks clean and nice IMO. ;)
EDIT: The little tiny pics you're talkin about are hands down Photoshops.
EDIT / EDIT: Stock hood weight vs RKSport CF hood weight is in the Sport Compact Build Guide...lemme see if I can find it.
EDIT / EDIT / EDIT: I was wrong. It just notes the availability of the RKSport hood. :(
EDIT / EDIT / EDIT / EDIT: RKSport doesn't list it on their site. Thats not cool either.
deltona_cobalt 07-16-2005, 12:31 AM Holy crap that would make my car look sweet!

LOL!!! Holy freakin EDITS batman!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Oh and it doesnt matter to me if its painted on the bottom side I just dont want it to be a regular hood just "layered" w/ a cf design and cleared over. Much like the mirror caps everyone talks about...
dom551 07-16-2005, 06:08 AM It appears black on the bottom side, is it just layered in cf??? That would suck.... :(
Inner part is constructed by fiberglass, for cut down price and structure. IPP SRT4 hood run @110mile/hr without hood pins.

YellowSXT 07-16-2005, 07:51 AM Stock hood about 37 lbs, without insolator.
Cool...thanks
Whens the eta on the hood again?
CoBIZZLE 07-16-2005, 08:02 AM Stock hood about 37 lbs, without insolator.
Thanks man! Oh and BTW, you said the SRT ran with an IPP hood at 110 w/o pins, did you mean in the 1/4? Cause I dont wanna be limited to 110mph if I cant go over 110 cause the mounts aren't gonna work as well, then I'll pass... :(
Dan Richards 07-16-2005, 12:20 PM Is this hood full steel framed?
smartmts123 07-16-2005, 12:23 PM i want one... now.

110 miles/hr on highway, top speed to 156 m/h highway too.
Lonewholf 07-16-2005, 02:56 PM  That is friggin sweeeeet!!
How much, and when will it be available?
Damn that thing would look good on my car ;)
DC52NV 07-16-2005, 03:20 PM yeah, most cf hoods are fiberglass at the bottom w/ a top layer of cf. 100% cf hoods are over $1,000 easily for my car anyway and they don't have that clear coat finish to them. they are dull. i'm sure you can clear coat them afterwards though.
dom551 07-16-2005, 04:58 PM Cool...thanks

This hood is finished by Epoxy resin gelcoat, shining as a crystal . Yes, 100%raw carbon fiber maybe weight 8 lbs, but price over $1000.00 easily.
dom551 07-16-2005, 05:12 PM Is this hood full steel framed?
It is fiberglass framed.

thanks for the info on the finish. yeah, those hoods are expensive like hell and not worth a few lbs you save over 1 layer cf hoods. :)
dom551 07-16-2005, 05:15 PM i want one... now.
I'm located Rockville, MD
Come home and get one.
CoBIZZLE 07-17-2005, 12:39 AM So you are saying if Im drivin down the interstate doin a bill-50 its not gonna blow back and bust my windshield??
Dan Richards 07-17-2005, 09:36 AM So you are saying if Im drivin down the interstate doin a bill-50 its not gonna blow back and bust my windshield??
Not tryin to knock an all glass and cf construction hood, but I'd use pins for safety and style.
I found cool low-profile keyed hood pins. They'd go great with that hood!
http://images.channeladvisor.com/Sell/SSProfiles/20061049/Images/CARBONPIN.jpg
Thats the best pic, but I'd buy these better quality looking ones instead.

eBay search for keyed hood pins. (http://search.ebay.com/hood-pins-key_W0QQsofocusZbsQQsbrftogZ1QQfrppZ50QQmaxrecords returnedZ300QQfcclZ1QQfromZR10QQfclZ4QQsacatZ-1QQmppfqyZhoodQ20pinsQ20keyQQsargnZ-1QQsaslcZ2QQsadisZ200QQfposZQ5AIPQ2FPostalQQftrtZ1 QQftrvZ1QQfsopZ1QQfsooZ1)

This evening I will try one w/Ray@Revitup see how it work. Ray will post at Revitup section, Maybe Modern Performance will do the same tomorrow.
I did try 03-05 Cavalier hood @70m, a little scrary. But after adjusted hood lock, to 90m it seems fine. But anyone ask a common, I will say : strongly recommend install hood pins, no matter what.
Ronnie Pendergrass 07-17-2005, 09:46 AM any plans on doing a GP, or discounts for pre-orders. Will the hood pin holes be pre-drilled if we want? Do you have a ballpark price yet?

It is considerable. As the CF Hood for 67-69 Camaro/93-97 Camaro/98-02 Camaro wille be avaliable in Nov.2005 All of these are pre-order.
Email me the year of GP and pic or design.
Ronnie Pendergrass 07-17-2005, 10:27 AM I am sorry i meant GP as "group purchase". :o My mistake on the confusion! I have an 05 'balt ss. I was wondering if there is a discount for purchasing now or if you guys will be doing a group purchase among the ************* and cobaltss.com?

Sorry, I thought GP is Grand Prix.
Due to the raw materials of carbon fiber is the glogal shotage, quantity is really limited. All of the first shippment are committed to Modern Performance and Revitup.
Ronnie Pendergrass 07-17-2005, 10:48 AM so we will have to buy from them correct? If so i will leave you alone about it and start asking them all the ?'s
DC52NV 07-17-2005, 11:42 AM So you are saying if Im drivin down the interstate doin a bill-50 its not gonna blow back and bust my windshield??
why would you want it to be tested to do 150mph anyway? i would rather preffer a test of endurance like 70-100mph for a long period of time since that is the speed you will most likely be traveling at if you are in the hwy. i've had my cf hood for a year and a half and have been doing alot of hwy driving and never had a problem w/ my hood and i don't have hoodpins. sure it shakes a lil at very high speeds but which cf hood doesn't. even w/ hoodpins it will still shake towards the back of it.
superchargerheaven 07-17-2005, 01:53 PM oooo aaaahhh!! giddy up....!! gotta get me one of these, those are sweet looking i live in the great north though, hope thats not a problem....
CoBIZZLE 07-17-2005, 11:18 PM Do they really shake NOTICABLY.... ugh... VOMIT!!! I dont know man... I'll haveta see some reviews first...
DC52NV 07-17-2005, 11:22 PM Do they really shake NOTICABLY.... ugh... VOMIT!!! I dont know man... I'll haveta see some reviews first...

CoBIZZLE 07-17-2005, 11:27 PM Well Im a perfectionist on a lot of things and I think it would annoy me greatly!!
Ronnie Pendergrass 07-17-2005, 11:30 PM Cobizzle I am giving you a bed time, we are running into each other at all hours of the night again!! :D
DC52NV 07-17-2005, 11:32 PM Well Im a perfectionist on a lot of things and I think it would annoy me greatly!!

Ronnie Pendergrass 07-17-2005, 11:37 PM Ronnie YOU get the bedtime! Im the mod! LOL :D ;)
kinda and off the wall ? I am sorta new to the whole message board thing, the only ones i have been apart of are f150online.com and the atlantacfa.com now i am a memeber of the site and ************* My question is who decides who is a mod and what are the mods responsibilities to the site? Is there anything you have to keep up with, or just make sure noone gets out of line?
CoBIZZLE 07-18-2005, 10:32 AM Most of the time, the administrators choose the mods, in this case everyone voted... And then the mods had to approve of us first. And yes we are basically here to keep order. Keep the boards clean of double posts, FREE advertising (ekool gets pretty steamed about that), foul language, trolls, etc etc...
W8TillUCmy.... 07-19-2005, 06:30 AM Actually, people over here in germany really do travel at 150 mph for long periods of time, provided that your cars able to do that at 4k rpms.
So hood shake would be a big factor for me.

Yall are lucky to be able to do that and espicially to be able to do it at 4k rpm. I wish i could trave 120-140mph to work everyday, it would almost be an orgasmic experience!!!!! :)
shcwv 07-21-2005, 06:00 PM dont buy those hood pins, my friend in his BMW had those on his car when he was driving about 85, they broke and his hood flew off and cracked his windshield and dented his roof.
mm_omega2 07-21-2005, 06:07 PM the hood looks awesome on the car, love to see a black hood on black CSS.
but yeah I have heard horror stories about cheap hood pins also. Don't go to cheap though, you always get what you pay for. 'less its from ebay then sometimes you get a good deal ;)
Dan Richards 07-21-2005, 07:11 PM Oh snap! Thats awesome on the car!!!

(SS) with a SS 07-22-2005, 08:09 AM I agree it looks great!!! But is Dan really trying to bring back "oh snap" I thought I was the only person who used that after 1993
deltona_cobalt 07-27-2005, 03:25 PM I WANT ONE NOW!!! I am going to save all of my pennies for that. Or rather benjamins for that hood. Its kind of intimidating as well.
