What kind of choices are there to be made when factory ordering? Like color and interior combo type of thing?

How about the performance package? Have you heard of it?

What percent is the GM employee discount, and is it off of the dealer invoice or MSRP?

Pablo

There is no set GM employee discount, it's usually $100 over invoice at our dealership.

umm, there is a GM employee discount. My grandfather works at a plant and i'm positive my family get's at least a 20% discount, not sure if it's more then that, and not sure if it's off of invoice or it's MSRP.

Ok, Where I work there is no set gm discount, it's usuallu $100-150 above invoice, this is a dealership not a plant. :) No need to get rilled up.

Hello new member here and hopefully a future Cobalt SS supercharged owner. Just wanted to ask a question as to what dealers are planning on setting the price at for the Cobalt SS'. Reason is the deciding factor on whether i get a cobalt SS or not is that i want the payments to be at or under $300 a month with a $4000 down payment, so if anyone could put forth any knowledge of prices or offer any advice on getting a dealer down to invoice price it would be much appreciated.

I dont see why the payments would over $300 with a $4,000 down payment.

Alright cool, just wanted to be sure on that. Now to relearn how to drive stick, any suggestions on how to do that cause it's been quite a few years since i've driven stick, lol.

If you've driven it before, then there should be no forgeting, you get in and you drive, if you remember the basics than your body will do the rest.

No problem, the hadest thing I found was getting going in a standard car, after that you press the clutch in and move the shifter, it's really simple just takes a while if you're new.

depending on how much u get it for... i cant see ur payments being less then 350, i had a 10k$ loan at like.9% and my payments started at 210 a month say u have a 18k$ loan that makes ur payments with any kinda interest percent more then 350... gl tho man, save up some more before the car comes out.. btw my parents got that loan % not me, my dad has amazingly good credit even tho he is like 10k in debt=) (besides my loan hehe) but yea im leaning towards the srt4 now, black srt lowered, black rims double limo on my windows and gonna try to see if ur able to get stage 2 from the factory, before i pick it up and include it on my payments.

yes, but you're forgetting the down payment which lowers the total cost of the car therefore take the Cobalt SS for instance. $21,995 then take $4,000 off that and devide what you get from that by 72 which is the maximum amount of months you can finance at and then add the percent the financing takes and you get pretty close to what the monthly payments would be. At least thats the formula i use and most of the time it's pretty close.

$18,000 financed over a period of 6 years at 6%, will be a $298.31 payment, that's assuming 22K for the car and a 4K down payment.

I would not recommend financing a vehicle for such a long time, before you know it your warranty is up and your left paying for a car that not going to be worth anything as soon as you drive it off the lot.

I agree, they might offer a smart buy for it as my dealer has told me, and thatd be the best route to go. so at the end of about 3 years u can pay it off, or give it b ack and get a newer one.

can't you only go a certain amount of miles per year with the smart buy though? i mean i wouldnt mind a mileage restriction, but im not exactly close enough to the city where i work to stay within that restriction. On the other hand if Chevy would offer some type of rebate or 0% financing for the SS at the end of the year i would probably take either one of those routes without hesitation. Otherwise the only way i could get the payments to $300 or under per month is by going for the full 72 months, however i wouldnt mind going all the way up to $350 a month cause that's still well within my budget.

(how to drive stick, online !)

And I think the smart buy, if available would be about on avg. 12k miles per year.

good thing i have alot of empty country farm roads out near me else i'd be totally stressing out about having to learn stick in heavy traffic. Just have to try not to burn the clutch up now, lol. On a side note, has anyone found out how much the performance package is gonna cost for the Cobalt SS? Oh and as for wanting the payments at $300 or under i just wanted the payments like that so i could save some extra cash incase of those little emergencies, The smartbuy option is looking more attractive the more i look at it though. Chevy's little payment estimator quoted me at a little over $200 payments with the smartbuy option and a $10k payoff at the end of the 48 month term.

GM employee discount price is printed on every invoice. Equates to invoice minus holdback and advertising. Example: MSRP is 23,495.00 GMemp is 21,339. There is no negotiation, is is clearly printed on every invoice

All manufacturers do this (to varying degrees). For example, the Mitusu dealer that I spoke to last week said that the Evo IX RS's are coming in late 2006. :D

I couldn't wait at all, I have no patience, I just went out and got the older brother. (Redline) If you can wait though, I would. You guys will have all the bugs worked outta the system after we found 'em all for GM! Hopefully you'll never hear the terms 'Camshaft Position Sensor' or 'ECU Reflash'.

I'm with you. I cannot wait another 4 months. This, at least, makes my decision easier: Redline!

I thought I would too, but after a week it didn't make a difference at all. There are alot of neat things you can do with the dash in front of you too. All things considered, I WOULD rather have the dash in front of me, but it really dosen't matter much. At night the needles are bright red and you can see where they are out of the corner of your eye pretty well. Once you get to know the gauges, that is.
