ok, so i have decided to remove the stock tires and replace them with snowtires when winter approaches on my 2010 cobalt ss.

can anyone recommend a good high performance snow tire (225/40/180) ? that has been used in somewhat serious snow/ice/generally crappy conditions...like canada.

now onto the rim question, i am going to need another rim now and was checking out the o.z. on tirerack, i think they have a +38 offset, will this actually work over the brembo brakes? does anyone have these ? if so please post a pic !

also will the stock conti's fit on the o.z. rim? its 18x8, not 18x7.5 like the stock. assuming the rim will fit over the brake...

I'm sure you know the drill about Blizzaks. They're terrific for the first year or two, then below average after the "good stuff" wears off.

I've been buying winter tires for every car I've owned (up to 29 cars so far), since I spend lots of time in the North country skiing, and then in the spring whitewater kayaking (mud & snow!). My recommendation these days is for the Dunlop SP Sport M3's (have these on my Audi) or the Michelin Alpin performance snows, PA3? or something like that. My daughter has those on her car and lives in New Hampshire where they've worked well for her.

Hope this helps!

I use Dunlop SP Winter Sport M3 Performance tires.these tires are best for winter and snowy seasons.Grips perfectly on snow. Also good on dry roads. It becomes more like a performance summer tire in summer season..Developed for sports cars, coupes and sedans..
