: Is it worth the wait for LSD
I talked to the dealer today and he said that if i ordered my SS s/c today i could get it by april. Thats the good news, bad news is that i asked him about the performance package which includes the LSD and he had no clue. He said if it was offered it would be next years model. I really wanna the perf pack but in Canada everything gets even more delayed on the already extremely delay arrival of the SS s/c
Should I wait or just get the one without????
If I don't get the LSD can anyone tell my the largest difference there would be when comparing a SS s/c with LSD and a SS s/c without
dazednconfused75 02-19-2005, 05:39 PM WAIT FOR THE LSD!!!
I have a Red Line and am going to spend nearly 2g's to get one. There is a major traction problem which means lots of low end torque.
plainnsimple 02-20-2005, 03:50 AM Yeah, there's a big difference between the 03 SRT's without LSD and the 04, 05 with. If you plan on racing the SS in any way, shape or form, hold-off. The difference is one tire spinning compared to two.

dascrow 02-20-2005, 06:33 AM I'm sure its something you could always add though.. probably alot more money.. I've been debating the same thing... and then you gotta wonder if the SS doesn't come out till a couple more months.. when will the 06 be out? by the end of the year or this time next yeart?
Mad Mike 02-20-2005, 08:42 AM Do u guys think it would cost me 2 much to put a turbo on me car?

And you own a..... ?
Signals 02-20-2005, 10:34 AM The LSD is what I've waiting for all these months. So I went to a big dealer on Feb. 18 and the sales guy (who called the inventory ordering guy) told me he couldn't even place an order for me until April. Then I might have it by June. That stinks!
EastCoastZ 02-23-2005, 11:13 AM As long as I get mine for the summer.
UnknownSuperhero 02-23-2005, 11:45 AM If you think about it, a LSD installed (im talking qualife on a getrag tranny) is about 1,500 + or - depending. The package is what 1,600 right?? and you get a couple of extra goodies to boot. Only pain in the ass is waiting. Man i hate waiting.
Sp00ner 02-23-2005, 12:24 PM It's not the Getrag... it's the same tranny from the Saab 9-3, whatever the name of it is. I just talked to Saturn about what the hell it was, and how much to get the LSD installed, etc, etc. The didn't have much info on prices, but he did tell me that they would install it. I'd wait if you can, or get the Ion now with the LSD. If you want the Cobalt though, I'd wait for the LSD or just plan on dropping some cash to put it in later. Particuarly if you want to smoke people at stoplights, without the LSD it's hard. I can spin all the way through 1st, and second if its cold out, even when I'm being careful. The Cobalt's slightly larger tires might help a LITTLE, but I imagine it will still be the same low-end torque monster that the Redline is.
NfamousZ24 02-23-2005, 06:07 PM I just told the Deaership that I could care less about the Recaro seats. But I need the LSD on my Cobalt SS and that they will put it on before I recive it and it will be added to my loan.
But I still might wait to get it with the LSD from the factory because I don't think that I will be able to get the Cobalt SS anyways before the show season anyways so I might as well wait.
3 more months on my cavalier to be paid off
Ecotech 02-25-2005, 12:26 PM I been likeing the SS Supercharged since i heard bout them, I have been searching everywhere about the LSD package! Can some one explain what that is to me so i can tell my dealer.
I plan to get a 2005 Cobalt SS Supercharged.Yellow with Black Intertior yellow inserts.
Cobolt83 02-26-2005, 09:45 PM I'd like to know too as far as the price and all that goes with the LSD package. On a side note i'd also like to know if there's anyone out there that knows a thing or 2 about financing that would be able to tell me how much one of the SS supercharged would be per month with a $4k down payment over say a period of 72 months.

i beleive theres a calculator on GMs site. but basicly its simple math
Scourge 02-27-2005, 12:44 AM If you plan on serious launches/cornering, you need a LSD. Should also help in slippery conditions.
Thanx guys,
any Canadians talk to dealers in your area about the LSD???
Scourge 02-27-2005, 08:59 PM Thanx guys,
any Canadians talk to dealers in your area about the LSD???
I've talked to one and the response was basically, "huh?" I'm from Edmonton, Alberta.
CalgCobalt 02-28-2005, 07:09 AM I've talked to one and the response was basically, "huh?" I'm from Edmonton, Alberta.
I've also talked to a dealership here in Calgary, Alberta and I seem to know more than they do. The rep I talked to doesn't even have allocation for an SS S/C yet so...
I also sent an information request to GM Canada and they haven't even answered back yet. I'm guessing what my dealer said about Canadian dealerships being the last to know, was true :(
I'm just waiting patiently so that I can order my Black SS S/C with Sunroof, OnStar, Side-Curtain Airbags and performance package (G85)... LSD and Recaro's. :D
Vendian 03-01-2005, 06:37 PM I think the package used to be under G85, but now it's called the W2E Recaro package or something. Just ask your dealer if he knows anything about the W2E package.
its good to hear the performace package will be available. Gotta have the LSD.
Wonder if you can get the LSD but not the recaros. The inserts are looking tight.
NIVO88T 03-03-2005, 02:53 PM Get LSD when/if available!
trust me on that one.... our car puts out a max of over 400whp and no lsd...thats a handful even with equal length axles.
Mission Mike 03-06-2005, 01:37 PM Dude LSD I think its wrong and i dont think u guys should be trying to sell drugs on this site!
Scourge 03-06-2005, 02:27 PM How much power will the factory LSD be able to handle? With everyone wanting to squeeze more power out, I'm sure one is bound to break.
Oh yeah... For those of you who'll be getting an LSD, just a warning but if you ever get a flat tire out front, swap it out with an equal sized tire. A lot of cars don't have full sized spares. Driving for long periods of time with 2 different sized tire is gonna hurt it (and could be dangerous). Your axles will be going at 2 different speeds when driving in a straight line causing more wear. Also, the LSD is going to want both axles going at the same speeds if you punch it; you'll probably fly towards the side with the spare tire (smaller diameter = less travel per rotation).
Mission Mike 03-06-2005, 04:16 PM Tool!!!!!!
