It makes the blower SO much louder...it's crazy! Only problem is my CEL light is on...I'm probably an idiot...but I followed the directions pretty closely..I'll have to check it tomorrow. I didn't get on it too much because the CEL was on, but you can definitely tell there is a gain in power.
Edit: Oh, I also picked up the DC Strut tower brace too! Looks nice and corners better now too...unless it's placebo effect haha.
BlackSS05 10-11-2005, 11:56 PM I hear that you need to use the screws for the MAF sensor that K&N gave you and not the stock ones. Someone else had the CEL come on and they realized that they used their old ones. They put the other ones in and the CEL went off. I don't know if this is true or not but I would give it a try if you already didn't. I can't wait till I get mine Good LUCK :D

LOL, yeah I juuust read that on .NET, I'm debating whether or not to go do it now or wait tomorrow..I'm spent lol. Thanks for the heads up too!
fleckenwhat 10-12-2005, 12:34 AM i just ordered mine today! i am sooo excited. are the instructions pretty detailed? i've never even accessed my air box...do i need to raise the car and take the wheel off? mine should arrive in 4-5 days, so i'd like to go into this like i already know what i'm doing. i'm not a total idiot, but my experience with fuel injected cars is fairly minimal.
h8beingbored 10-12-2005, 02:22 AM do you have any pics of it actually installed? looks awesome as it is... can you have this with your warranty?

most gm dealers will tell you that you can have it on without voiding your warranty, but damage done to any other component will not be covered if they can prove it was somehow caused by your product. but watch out...if you have an extended or aftermarket warranty you might not be covered at all.
dervin3 10-12-2005, 06:58 AM Looks sweet! I'd also like to see completed work photos. I see others have already got theirs and I haven't even got called :(
abstract 10-12-2005, 10:08 AM is this intake specifically for the SS or any cobalt? is there an intake out for the regular cobalt?
Pics coming guys, I'm going out to put the correct screws in the MAF right now. I called my dealership and they said there is nothing wrong w/ an aftermarket intake so long as it doesn't *directly* cause a problem..specificially the "engine lean" CEL.
Also, I HIGHLY recommend the DC sports strut tower brace...it has thus far completely eliminated any chassis squeeks that I used to have...and it handles much nicer.

Ahaaa, your making posts on both .net and .com ! Sneaky Tofu!
Thanks for posting the pictures here as well, and for sharing your input on the intake, and strut bar !

It is for the SS only.

fleckenwhat 10-12-2005, 03:02 PM injen does have one out for the regular cobalt, a guy in my car club has one and it sounds pretty good. he said he definitely noticed an increase in power.

on Moderns site they have a video...
dervin3 10-12-2005, 04:44 PM For anyone who already has the intake installed, have you driven in the rain with no problems and how far does the filter go down into the fenderwell?
check out my SS vs SRT-4 thread, you can hear the blower BIG time.
Dervin, it's mounted around the same area as the stock filter, but at a different angle...I'd watch out for puddles deeper than a foot.
workingforchevy 10-12-2005, 06:25 PM where did u find the strut tower brace?

Bought it from Modern Performance. They are one of the vendors on this site (just in case you didn't know). :)

deeper than a foot!? Damn guess I can't go rallying now through creeks :( lol but seriously though just general driving in rainy weather there's no chance for engine damaging water to get into the system...even in downpours?

Well, I would say the odds are against it because of the inner fenderwell still being there...but other than that the filter is wide open. All that space where the stock airbox was at is empty, the filter sits there at an angle (it's a little higher up though). I do have pics, I'll upload them tomorrow.
