pulley - 50$ - 15hp
header - 300$ - 10hp
intake - 300$ - 10hp
ECU, maybe- 400$ - 15hp?
cams - 400$ - 20hp
N2O - 500$ - 75hp
clutch - 600$ - 0 hp

Total, maybe around 350 wheel HP and 2500$.

Yep yep.

We/you have no idea of what treats are held within our ECU and I think there's more than just HP to get out of it like a few hundred extra RPMs for the 1-2 shift. I wouldn't bother speculating until someone actually gets into it.

Your header/exhaust/intake guestimation is based off of a stock car.

a) FI cars wont get 20whp from cams.
b) u cant add up power like that...that is what that mod does my it self, but when u have it with a bunch of stuff u cant keep adding power. they all work together to be more effecient.

header is 400-450..
Cams are 500-700...
a good modular pulley is 100+ ...

Yeah... I was about to ask where these $400 cams were... So I don't have to pay $600+.

don't forget the piggyback and mechanical boost guage, and the $65 pulley puller, not to mention $600++ brakes. hondamath doesnt work on these cars.

Doesn't GM mention that the stock pistons probably won't take more than 300hp in the build book? Need to go forged steel if you don't want to burn em up.

Lol, you sure about that?

Thats a pretty dumb statement. Check that site. Those are cams for supercharged motors. They gain way more than 20 whp. But keep posting that stupid comment, and we'll keep laughing at you.

damn did that thing say it gave 60whp? that's a lot of power for some cams

HeppyCat, you're thinking of the 2.2 ECOTEC.

HeppyCat

tube, the build book does specify that the 2.0sc does have the 'pink rods' but does not say it already has forged pistons. Do you have some other information?

Notsosane

2.0 already has forged internals

not pistons though.. there's a post of a rebuild somewhere saying the pictons are not forged. i'll see if i can find it

yeah but supposedly the cast stock pistons can handle 400+hp easily.

Someone posted a link to the GMP website where they're making a build book specifically for the 2.0L LSJ, and it said in there that you do need to get aftermarket pistons if you plan on putting 300+ hp in your car. The pistons are no forged, but just about everything else in the motor is built to handle way more than 300hp. There was actually very few parts that had to be changed out to put over 300 on the LSJ

Of course the article does not specify whether its HP or WHP ... I think they mean WHP myself... an LSJ with high compression pistons... new valve springs.. tune.. and whatever additional mods they do (as they are only on part 1 or a 4 part series) should put the motor at around 300WHP I think... Who knows though... we will see...

Cast pistons will take almost as much HP as forged ones. It is detonation (knock) that kills them sooner than forged.

Well I did mine just for fun. All my numbers are backed up by dynos too.
K&N intake - $280, 8fwhp
Ravin muffler - $80 5fwhp
Psi-Fi kit - $550, 30fwhp
Total spent - $910 for 43fwhp
$21.16 per horsepower
Just divide the amount of money you have spent by the total amount of power you gained

Be lucky it's that cheap. I spend 8K for a 5.4L setup in my Saleen.
