ok so i ordered the blanks thinking i would be able to get custom cams. they came in and i was going to ship them by the weekend and figured i would check the out to make sure. well the intake is perfect but the damn exhaust is freaking short again so we called gm performance and they say that non of their cams will work becuase they are performance cams and do not use a cam sensor which is drivin off of the exhaust cam. so for those of you that have cams on the ss where did you get them and did you have to modify anythingelse

First off please dont take any of my questions as that I am being critical. I have not ventured into any mods. I am just asking questions to be brought up to speed to where you are currently at in making your SS better.
Could you re-explain to me what you were discussing? I understand you ordered blanks. Were you planning to send them out to be ground? But you didnt yet? were you looking into the amount of material the shop would have to work with and found the exhaust lobe to be to low to provide the lift you needed or wanted? GM said they are performance cams and dont use a cam sensor. What is the signifigance of this? Thanks.
Cant wait to fight out what others did.
I was going to start with cam timing spockets. Works on Super bikes. that being said it was a waste of time on a 01 FZ6R. There were found to be dead on. only advice here is see if there is a need for you car to determine if there would be any benefit to doing it.
I will start a new thread for timing sprockets as I have guestions Thanks.

ok i will start from the begining
about 2 months ago i had ordered a set of cams from comp cams. when i had recieved them i put them in but the exhaust cam was approx 2 in short in length. so i took them all back out and sent them back. mean while i started looking into just getting a set of blank cam to send those to comp for custom grinds. i got those yesterday and was going to send them out on fri as i was leaving for the SEMA show in Vegas. i looked at the exhaust cam and it was the same identical way. well being that i work at a dealership we call GM performance to figure out why these were the same as all the others. their response was "it is a performance cam and not made to go on stock vehicles" this is the reason why the cam is shorter, the race motors do not use a cam position sensor therefore the cam does not need to be as long. the cam sensor basically tell the computher where the valves are at.
my question as well is both stock cams are stamped with the same "stick" number which is "312" are they using two intake cams and just changing the grinds, (which i know they have to but...) is this possible?

i believe what they mean by non oem is they wont work with the factory distributorless ignition.i remember seeing that land speed redline and it has a distributor being run of the front cam i think if i remember wright.thats were the camsensor thing would be for our ignitions.i think

this cam is for turbo charged and will not work on this motor at least that is what gmperformance is telling me. i am not trying to argue simply stating what i have been told int heis big ass mess now. i am just thinking on going with the two intake cams and having them ground to my specs

I would just get 2 blank intake cams... and have them grind those.
