GM Performance Parts is adding some extra juice to the already high-voltage 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt SS coupe by taking the wraps off of two supercharger kits at the 2005 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) annual show in Las Vegas .
“These stage kits are aimed squarely at the hard core enthusiast looking to boost the power of the Cobalt SS’s already charged-up 205-horsepower engine,” said Nancy Philippart, executive director, GM Accessories. “They deliver increased horsepower and torque throughout the engine’s operating range.”

GM Performance Parts will offer separate Stage 1 and Stage 2 supercharger kits. The Stage 1 Kit includes higher-flow fuel injectors and an ECU calibration to provide a 31 hp boost to the Cobalt’s engine for a total of 236 hp and 205 lb.-ft. of torque. Add in the Stage 2 Kit, with its smaller supercharger pulley and drive belt, and the engine comes alive with 241 hp and 218 lb.-ft. of torque across a broad engine speed range.

“The kits are easy to install and conform to all GM engineering and validation standards for the Cobalt,” said Philippart. “And, best of all, they’re backed by GM.”

The Cobalt Stage 1 and Stage 2 Kits will be available at GM dealerships in the first quarter of 2006.

GM Accessories and GM Performance Parts are sold in North America by Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, Cadillac, GMC, Saturn, Saab and HUMMER dealerships. For more information about GM Parts, GM Accessories or GM Performance Parts, visit www.gmgoodwrench.com.

-GM claims a 15% HP increase just from stock to Stage 1 (from 205 to 236 HP).
-GM claims a 18% HP increase from stock to Stage 2 (from 205 to 241 HP).

We have to be careful with HP claims : The street tuner challenge's Cobalt SS/SC dynoed stock at 211 WHP and with the pulley and largest injectors it dynoed at 236 HP. It's only a 12% improvement over stock from the "Stage 2". That's a kind of more realistic independant testing.

BUt I think the torque improvement they claims are right : 5 ft-lb from the stage 1 (mostly given by the reflash) and 18 ft-lb from the reflash, injectors and pulley.

we're hoping it won't, but you never know. just look at the mopar stage kits... they weren't supposed to void the warranty when mopar first announced them, but then when they came out they said that they would void warranties.

My warranty booklet that came with the car says that GM parts installed by GM technicians are covered under the car's warranty. or 12 months / 12000 miles, whichever is greater.
