: Raced a C6 (Corvette) on the highway and beat it....
ekool 01-19-2005, 06:41 PM was in the Talon, tho.
Was next to the guy on a closed portion of a test track... couldnt get him interested to go... I think he thought it wouldnt be a challenge.
The Talon is a 95, and the paint is faded and oxidized, and there is a good portion of the bumper missing to make room for the giant FMIC.. so by looking at it, you'd never expect it to run good.
Finally after annoying him enough, the lanes cleared in front of us and we both got on it. I think he got a "slight" jump on me, but my car was about 2 feet ahead of his regardless, so it was a pretty even start.
I was at about 5000 RPM in 2nd gear when I punched it and I could hear him gun it as well, the stock exhaust on those things sound pretty damn good.
By the top of 3rd gear, I had pulled about a car and a half on him and had to shut down because we were coming up on traffic.
All in all, it was a good race. I was on pump gas, running 1.54kg/cm2.
My only curiosity is, what goes the mind of the corvette owner at this point?
td1042k 01-19-2005, 07:24 PM nice..are the C6 vettes heavier or lighter than the C5 vettes?
Dewie 01-19-2005, 09:13 PM good run man, what #'s you putting down with the Talon?
ekool 01-19-2005, 09:19 PM Talon ran a 12.6 before I added the AGP FMIC, 660cc Injectors, LS1 MAF and Translator...
I'm not sure if the C6's are lighter or heavier... about the same I believe. I think the Z06 (new one) is going to be a bit lighter then the old Z06 tho.
NIVO88T 01-19-2005, 09:32 PM I don't believe it!
A crappy talon can't beat the almighty Corvette!
But you did have the LS1 MAF on it though that right there is some extra horses....
TheBlade 01-19-2005, 09:47 PM So the site screwed me over and now I have to retype this whole thing anyhow:
So 89 C4 Vette vs. my 93' Ford Escort GT
So this guy and a friend drive past me on the street doing the look-point-laugh at my Scort. As he comes up on me he notices my stock looking Escort, with 17's, duel 3" DTM tips and way too much "rice-burn" on my rear bumper
What he didnt realize is I have an IHI VJ20 turbo, FMIC, MSD Boost Timing Master, SAFC Fuel computer for the 460cc'ers and AVC-R for times like that.
As he starts to pass me he decided to give 2cd gear a hard push to intimidate me, not thinking I would react. So I stomped 2cd showing him what 13psi sounds like on a TurboXs RFL. Okay so I wouldnt be putting this up here unless I smoked him in second all the way to the light ahead. But, I know I more then likely wouldnt of taken him...too small of turbo, and no high gearing. But I got really lucky and we came up on the traffic as the light went red.
It was great seeing his cigarette fall out of his mouth and his friend lean forward to drop his sunglass and take a serious look at my car. They pulled up and all I hear was "Oh Sh!t!"
Anyhow, Glad to see GM promoted a blown-tuner to their line...and dropped the cavy. Im trying to get a new car in the next couple of months, I think I'm gonna get an SRT though. I hate 4drs, crank rear windows, and I'm not a Neon fan..but its gonna be gone on the Neon platform here shortly and i dont think I'll be able to afford it if they step up to AWD...so I'm gonna take a chance and go turbo again while I have the chance. But I definately cant wait to see mod'd Cobalts kickin' the Honda/Nissan/Toyota tuner world around.
oh for pics of my turbo install on my scort go to:

ekool 01-19-2005, 11:48 PM Nothing like having a sleeper ruin someones day.
I raced a mustang in my T-Type (Turbo Buick Regal) -- which was baby blue... the guy brought it back to the dealership the next day for a refund, no bullshit.
BTW, how did the site mess up.. did it give you an error, I'd be happy to look at it and fix it.
1BigBird3 01-20-2005, 12:36 AM Damn, I wanted to post my first BS flag EVER on this post! ;)
All kidding aside great run ekool. Sounded like such a rare and perfect occasion that the moons themselves were also aligned. Were you able to line up with him afterwards and see if he gave the classic "I'm not going to look over and give you the satisfaction of me acknowledging you won the race" look?
IMO T-Type's are one of the most feared sleepers in drag racing or street trim.
Chris Chow's for example is no exception : Right Click Save As. (http://www.fasttrackperformance.com/page5/Chow%20movie%20files/ChrisTTGN.wmv)

coxne 01-20-2005, 07:05 AM I beat a friend of mine who drives a mustang. I was driving a gmc sierra 1500 pickup. I cheated and went off-roading :D
Courtice6er 01-20-2005, 11:21 AM Nice kill. The C6 is no slouch, but obviously your talon has some balls.
ekool 01-20-2005, 09:52 PM I wasnt able to get next to him... I came up on a car in my lane, had to hit the brakes, and was turning off the highway anyway... but I'm sure I'll run into him again, this town aint that big :)
He didnt look over once that I saw tho.
Pablo 01-21-2005, 04:44 PM Sounds like a fun race. :)
TheBlade 01-22-2005, 09:48 AM oh ekool, I logged in, typed up my overlylarge post and then it said I had to log in again...I logged in and nothing was posted. I attempted (knowing it wouldnt work) to use the back button, and of course the history of my text entry was gone. I should of been smart and just copied it before I pressed reply.
I think the site was using a "time-out" feature....probably better to have it then not.
Yeah its easy to put up the BS-Flag on "I killed your million-dollar machine with my Gremlin" and my escort doesnt pick up chicks any better then a gremlin most days...but seriously, no one ever expects the thing to put another 150hp to the ground over sucky factory. I think most times I take people in a serious 2cd gear pull its because they simply dont believe what their seeing, so they're reaction to it is just a little too retarded.
The best is pulling onto a freeway in the Phx area and making an old guy in an older (92,93,94ish) NSX actually slam his hands onto the steering wheel then start to tear up.
ekool 01-22-2005, 01:56 PM I dont think anyone can top my story of beating a brand new car, and having them actually take it back to the dealership the next day :)
That one is classic.
