: pictures of TOG gasket issues > read if you bought a header
selfinfliction 12-23-2005, 02:12 PM when i first took of my manifold and tried to line up the holes form the stock gasket on the prototype header i've had for about 3-4 months now, i noticed that the stock gaskets would not work. so i called tog and told them about it. and the same issue is with the production headers. i wanted to post this before anyone breaks down their car that you need a different gasket.
the pictures are a bit large, but it's necessary to see the gaps. the gaps are at the bottom of the 2 & 3 primaries

FASTFOSSIL 12-23-2005, 03:04 PM Overpriced POS! Sorry, i've seen the same poor quality on the 3800! Poor welds, holes in the weld etc:!
Roush97 12-23-2005, 09:05 PM wow thats way off.
FastFieros 12-23-2005, 11:29 PM Well, theres one good thing about TOG warantty, no matter if you run over it with a truck, they replace it for free.

That's only if somebody can find them. Warranty means jack shit if there is no more company.
FastFieros 12-24-2005, 01:03 AM I am not an expert in TOG's business affairs by no means.. but, I have used their product on the Grand Prix 3800SC engines for 4 years now. I have not heard any rumors that TOG is going away. I think I heard they were moving to another building, but not going away..
So, if Jon becomes aware of the this problem, I hope he sends out some emails to return the defective products for a replacement. I dont expect refunds on this, but looks to me like a replacement will be needed.
Those are some big gaps in that gasket area. I have one of those TOG I just got yesterday. I have not even opened the box yet. I will in the morning.. err, in about 8 hours, to see what this looks like in person.

Loyde, they were moving a month ago and now all the e-mail addresses are bouncing and no redirection of the phones or forwarding address at the post office. So it looks like TOG decided to bail several weeks ago. Acording to other threads elsewhere, Jon does not work for TOG any longer. So it appears that the warranty is only as good as that peice of toliet paper that I flushed a couple of hours ago....

Yup, I was just informed of this today. Unreal.. Those headers were some of the best of the best in the Grand Prix market. Just unreal this is happening with the EcoTec productline.
What is Jon's last name. I want to watch for this person to resurface in the coming months somewhere else.

kelleyperformance 12-24-2005, 10:21 AM when you make a product, and customers pay hard earned money, it better be at least decent or installable. how could you not see those gaps? how could oyu inspect those products and not see the holes? it is a poorly run opperation, obviously. im just glad i didnt buy one :)
498Nova 12-25-2005, 12:12 PM Incredible.
So after all the hoopla posted about this header, by one individual, the things show up (amazing) and they are poorly built, and the gasket doesn't match? And they didn't supply a gasket? And, if you look at the pictures that are actually in focus...the ports aren't even all the same?
Wire feed welding isn't all that hard. Especially for anyone with some experience. So where is (was) TOG located? Riverside CA? Guess where the labor came from.
And TOG is now tits up? Seems so from a few of the posts.
I could build a better header myself.
The GM extrudehoned manifold is looking better all the time isn't it? And for way less money.
Merry Christmas.
