Well you can make your own intake from PVC tubing and get rid of that stock airbox. You can disable the boos by-pass solenoid. Put a smaller Pulley on that is pretty cheap. Buy a torque brace for wheel hop. That is also pretty cheap.

so how do you by pass the boos solooid or w/e and how much power gain?

Remove the spare tire and jack. It's about 35 lbs or so. You can also cut a hole in the stock air box, and drop in a K&N for a sort of home made cold air kit.

Do a search on the boost bypass. There should be a good how to around here.

spare tire jack and the panel over the jack are 41 lbs. If you make an intake make sure it seals right if you leak air behind the maf in the system you will get a cel.

Heppy that was pretty funny! :) LOL!

Start by cutting off the muffler! I did and was very happy. But then again I have a base coupe. NO CELs yet.

Umm... keep it stock. lol

Seriously, The wash and wax mod, the remove usless items mod (spare and mats), boost bypass, Filter change, Oil change, Type-R Antenna mod, or my personal favorite (The put more money into the payments and try to pay off early mod.)

take the mirrors off, they create aerodrag that would take .00001 of a sec off your 1/4 mile time.

this thread is rediculous. we get a fairly honest question and everybody pulls this shit out.

btw, the boost bypass mod does absolutely nothing to a stock pullied car.

it got redilicious because nobody wants to buy a 20k car and do "cheap or getto mods"

If you want to make your car faster just get the stage 2 from gm. should be less than 1000 and will be worth the WAIT to save up the money

Or you can put a 1000 dollar body kit on (complete with 747 wing of course)that has more holes and cuts than a poorly done 1st grade project. That should add like 100 hp to the WHEELS!!! Sorry, couldn't resist.

I got an idea. Just sell your SRT-4, and go find another SRT-4 that has some mods already on it (from a guy who actually gave a s$*t about what he was putting on his new car, not just cutting corners by going to home depot and hacking up his stock parts) for about the same amount you sold yours for (maybe even slightly less if your lucky), b/c his will de-preciate in value due to the mods. Then paint on some flames, take of your stock SRT-4 wheels and throw on some steelies with fake chrome spinners and your set.

i agree with your first part...and with iso...

but why the shit would you(along with most short timers) all push the GM kits.

STOP IT!.... they are trash!

over priced and if you ever saw there tune on HPT you would see the huge holes in the timeing, VE maps....ALL OVER!.

if you want to do a "stage kit" go with intence or CA

so you think 20k classifies this as an expensive car? most people bought these things for cheap speed. he was just asking if there were any cheap mods. and i'm sure many people have the airbox mod on here instead of a cai and paid 50-100 bucks instead of the 200+ for an intake.

if you can dump 20k down the drain, more power to you, but you got to realize that everybody is not as fortunate and cannot afford "expensive" cars. All i was saying was what is the use of buying a 20k car and scrounging up ways to modify it when you can get any used car for less than half and use the extra 10k or so to make that car twice as fast as the cobalt.
by the way, the airbox mod is pretty good.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO UNTRUE.

read the magnison/moss warrenty act...

you see my mod list below.....I still get warrenty EVERY time i need something

you must remember that they can only void warrenty if your aftermarket parts are at fault...SO if you need something BIG then put the car back to stock.

its been said before and i'll say it again..."you have to pay to play"

so dont mod your car if you care about a warrenty.

Hey here is the Magnuson-Moss Act. This is what it is for.......
According to the Report of the House of Representatives which accompanied the law (House Report No. 93-1197, 93d Cong 2d Sess.) the Magnuson-Moss act was enacted by Congress in response to the widespread misuse by merchants of express warranties and disclaimers. The legislative history indicates that the purpose of the Act is to make warranties on consumer products more readily understood and enforceable and to provide the Federal Trade Commission with means to better protect consumers (Davis v. Southern Energy Homes, Inc. 305 F.3d 1268 (11th Cir. 2002)).

The statute is remedial in nature and is intended to protect consumers from deceptive warranty practices. Consumer products are not required to have warranties, but if one is given, it must comply with the Magnuson-Moss Act.

Your warranty is what it states, nothing more.

no, actually i don't have 20k to dump down the drain. that's why my car is financed and i am not driving a more expensive car. just saying that relative to the car market, 20k is a "cheap" car. and if you're buying a "cheap" car meant to be go-fast out of the box, than it is likely you would want to know if there are cheap mods for it.

i'm not trying to be a dick, i just hate seeing everybody on car forums jump all over someones back when they ask a question. we were all newbs once, so you gotta cut em some slack and let them get educated instead of just flaming them.

I'm not flaming anyone, I do this to be entertained. So if you want something cheap and very very fast, get a 98 Civic, throw a bodykit, stickers, Chinese letters, some neons, and a triple decker wing w/ fake carbon fiber. I've heard a few have broken the land speed record. Again... just to be entertained.:D And I am

There were a few... check the first page. I don't own an SS so I decided to be a menace... Not really my fault. My friends say I can act a real asshole sometimes but that's just what makes me me. I don't mean to do it, it just happens. I'm sure there's a few ppl here that are the same way.
