Cobalt, the Ion has that nasty center dash. But I do think the Ion looks better.

doesn't make sense

"performance wise" they're the same!

"all around" ... that up to YOU, everyone's different so go test drive them and see what fits you best

I went with the RL because I got it insanely cheap and I knew about the Cobalt SS and the aftermarket possibilities. The dash thing is very uncomfortable at first and looks tacky if you ask me. They should have a kit for that soon enough. Looks..that's up to you. They will perform the same except for the slightly heavier 18"s on the SS

Well i would go with the Cobalt SS because from my under standing the Cobalt SS has beter handleing.

Thats what ive heard also and in the redlines the center mount gauges takes a while to get used 2 also. but i just dont know because they both kind of have there own style

Well they are the same car. Personal preference is what will help you decide. Personally I like the overall look of the SS better, however the RL IS REALLY HOT as well. The RL is goin for a lot cheaper, and also has the added convenience of the extra rear doors, a really cool feature!! But hey, I'm still a Chevy guy!

Well the problem with the chooseing is that i like how they both look but i like the cobalt SS beter because it does not have that center gauges.

Yeah and right now I dont even think they have boost gauges in the RL's but if I'm not mistaken, they will be getting them.

at the detroit auto show they have them mounted where the "regular Gauges" go and thats cool but i like them mounted on the A-Frame

Yeah the pillar mount is a huge plus, I think it will be convenient and easy to see there.

y do u think it is better?

exterior - is close i like the body styling on the redline but the SS still looks better
interior - exceptional interior when u look at ne car in the competing class. I Like the recaros but the SS can come with those too. For me i think the 2 tone interior is wicked.
performace - all stats that i have seen always have the SS coming out on top.
price- for the price the SS comes with better features.
Name - Saturn makes me laugh
Centered console - WTF is that horrible thing in the middle.

Don't wanna bash the redline but you asked y.

Do you really think that the SS will perform better? Would chevy allow the mags to say the RL performed better than the SS if indeed it did? We're getting 14.5 1/4's in the RL without a LSD. The only difference performance wise between the two is the wheels. I honestly can't comment on the handling at this point because I got the RL in Nov. and put snow shoes on it right away. The moral of the story is..don't believe eveything you read. It's going to be up to personal choice on the looks of the car. If I could save 2g's and get a RL, I'd deal with the putrid dash till they have a fix. Hmm... 2g's...twincharging???

I have a RL and when i first test drove one, I thought the center gauges would really bother me, but it only took about 5 minutes to get use to it. I really don't mind it at all. I wouldn't say I like it better or worse than the norm, just different.

i went with the RL only because i couldnt wait any longer for a new car i do think that the redline does look better but the cobalt is a good lookin ride too. performance wise they are te same and it sounds like a lot of the performance parts are going to be coming out for both of them. still waiting to see a cobalt SS up here and test drive one too just for the hell of it. Also are the seats in the cobalt recaros too?

nicholas

i believe only in the comp package the recaros come in but its still sweet

we all know that when its that close if when RL and SS actually start racing than its down to the driver. But for some reason i think the SS is just gonna be faster.

they are really comforable for a long time, i would deff. take those in any car i ever buy!!!

I honestly think they will perform EXACTLY the same.
I mean sure our wheels are heavier, but the added extra doors, hinges, seals, handles, etc. probably weighs more than just a body panel. I dont think there will be much weight difference and i dont think there will be any performance difference.

I agree w/ p7x: It will be a driver's race. Heck in some cases the SRT-4 vs. either the RL or the SS will be a driver's race (cause we all know that some folks just cant drive)

Well Im gonna be uncomfortable on long juorneys anyways, I cant stand to sit on anything for a long time anyways, not even sofas, much less car seats. But hey I guess the more comfortable the better. All in all i guess support is my main concern, for those reasons.
