: Just got my cobalt
intervoid 04-12-2005, 07:50 PM Well, on monday I went and picked up my metallic blue Cobalt SS. Its AMAZING. Moving up from a '97 cavalier to a '05 cobalt is outstanding. I don't have any pictures right now, but I'm sure you've all seen them anyway.
Apparently I'm the first person in the area to get one (Dayton, OH) and mine even came in before the owner of Lang's' (the chevy dealer) did.
I'm not pushing it too hard because I want the engine to break in a little or I'd give you some times.
LDutchSS 04-12-2005, 08:16 PM you'll be having loads of fun in no time flat.... :D
CoBIZZLE 04-12-2005, 10:21 PM Congrats man! Welcome to the site!!!
87camaroPA 04-13-2005, 06:14 AM Welcome to that site and congrats on the Cobalt.
CoBIZZLE 04-13-2005, 10:00 PM Waitin on that promised first hand review! ;)
cnr69 04-16-2005, 11:00 AM Yeah I moved up from a 97 cavy as well, big difference.
87camaroPA 04-17-2005, 12:16 AM How is it so far?
intervoid 04-17-2005, 07:46 PM Oo la la. Wow. This is probably going to be a major praise of the car, but this is coming from a kid who previously owned a '97 cavalier so there is a major difference :).
I'm attempting to keep my antics under control for the first 500 miles for the break in, but its so difficult! The thing handles so well, I can take 90 degree turns above 35mph. The brakes are amazing as well, but I guess thats just due to the 4-wheel discs, compared to my cavalier that just had front disc brakes.
I often find myself driving at around 70, thinking its 40 because the car gives the feign appearance that I'm not doing 30 over the speed limit. It has some definite potential for when I pull up next to some kid that wants to race.
The interior is stunning. I feel like I'm driving my friend's parent's 300C, its extremely comfortable and very sporty (you've all seen the pictures). The sound system is very good for a stock system. I believe that a sub upgrade with an amp would be the only thing I would change about it. I'm pretty much an audiophile. The system has amazingly clear highs along tight lows, but not quite as loud of lows as I like. The stock radio doesn't have all the extras that my panosonic head unit had on the cavalier, like high and low pass filtering, just the basic bass and treble dB increasing. Does anyone know about changing out the radio, or piggy-backing an aftermarket radio to this one?
Overall I'm really impressed. If there is any specific questions I can address them.
Pictures :)

Another frontal shot. I'm not too sure why it looks like I'm skipping around the car, but I don't recall doing so.

The side shot.

And finally, the most important part.
Sorry if I look retarded in all the pictures, its mainly because I am :)
87camaroPA 04-17-2005, 09:08 PM Very nice car man and that color is rubbing off on me and you are one lucky person.
great looking car, exactly what I ordered. The wait is killin me.
NIVO88T 04-17-2005, 10:50 PM Nice man, that color is sweet.
CoBIZZLE 04-18-2005, 11:24 AM Yeah I love that color!!! Have fun at prom? Oh and I think you might have been itching your leg with your foot not skippin, LOL just a guess :D
87camaroPA 04-19-2005, 12:33 AM That color is very nice if i was not so dead strait on getting one in black i think the blue would be my second fav. So far.
phxSS 04-22-2005, 05:26 PM that blue is pretty nice. Anyone else notice that the front looks like a Civic, and the back looks like an '04 cavalier?
CoBIZZLE 04-22-2005, 05:28 PM I dont think so. The headlights are much larger than a Civics and the Cavy had that bar all the way across the back and the Cobalt only has Quad jewel tails.
87camaroPA 04-22-2005, 05:32 PM Well the rear tail lights look like a Corvette. And i do see the look of a Civic but it is different.
CoBIZZLE 04-23-2005, 12:27 AM Well the quad "jewel" tails is just historic of Chevy, i.e. Vette, Impalas, some (if not all) Chevelles had quad tails in their chrome bumpers, and now the Cobalt.
jaguar 04-23-2005, 04:36 PM that is a good looking color on that car...nice car;)
steve 04-23-2005, 07:57 PM indeed a beautiful color,if i wasn't set on red,arrival blue would be my 2nd choice.
and yes quad tail lights have long been a chevy tradition, glad to see them back.
Big Red 04-23-2005, 08:06 PM That blue looks better and better everytime I see it,might have to change my name to Big blue LOL. ;)
Exact color im getting....once i order it LOL but VERY HOT CAR I CANNOT WAIT FOR MINE!!!!!
dascrow 04-23-2005, 11:37 PM hey welcome to the site.. those are some awesome pics! nice house too.. that looks very close to the one I want to build!
ITS SLOW 04-24-2005, 04:13 AM W0W. . . I mean for real. A VERY sexy color. Man i can't wait to see them in my area. Congrats man. Hope it helped for prom. . . *nudge nudge wink wink*
WRicerX 04-26-2005, 05:34 PM Very nice. I have a thing for deep blue. I think those wheels could use a dose of black dupont wheel paint though. A little too "thick" for me. I live a few block away from the chevy dealer. Hope they get one in to check out.
redsrt413.6 04-26-2005, 06:04 PM cool looks good and yea very nice house also
deuses300c 04-26-2005, 07:02 PM hott shit yum yum
intervoid 04-26-2005, 08:48 PM Thanks for all the positive replies. I'm anxious for others to get their's so they can get these mods out. I just barely lost to a v8 mustang GT and I'm getting shit for it, so I need some parts to get him to eat my dust.
:)
redsrt413.6 04-27-2005, 11:35 AM Was he stock!!
SRT THIS 04-27-2005, 03:02 PM Thanks for all the positive replies. I'm anxious for others to get their's so they can get these mods out. I just barely lost to a v8 mustang GT and I'm getting shit for it, so I need some parts to get him to eat my dust.

Just tell the Stang owner your car hasn't been broken in yet, and you're still learning to drive it. Did you Race from a Dig or roll?? If a roll, from what speed did you start?
Ya should of worn a Blue Tie to match your new car for Prom!
intervoid 04-30-2005, 12:22 AM Ha.. he was stock, except for a new exhaust ( I don't think it added anything). We did it from a dig, but I spun the tires waayy to much :-\
I'm learning. Once I break in I'll head down to the local racetrack to get some 1/4 times.
hbko181 04-30-2005, 05:40 AM Nice Car! I really like the rims the Cobalt has compared to my Redline!
CoBIZZLE 05-01-2005, 01:06 AM Nice Car! I really like the rims the Cobalt has compared to my Redline!
Woah! Vice versa here! SS rims are too meaty for me. Too fat in the center. They'll be one of the first things to go if I decide to get one.
octoberX 05-02-2005, 10:18 AM nice SS mannn... enjoy.
sphipps 05-02-2005, 10:24 AM Nice car man...one thing I noticed that I don't like is the engine bay looks bland..maybe it's just me.
Congrats on the purchase!!! :D
87camaroPA 05-02-2005, 04:33 PM Nice Car! I really like the rims the Cobalt has compared to my Redline!
I like the SS rims also i got a chance over the weekend to see a Black one at a dealer nere me at the rims were a Gunmetal color not a crome or silver.
CoBIZZLE 05-02-2005, 10:05 PM Are they gunmetal?? hmm? I always thought they were silver, but the styling still isn't my style, I'll opt for a swap.
87camaroPA 05-02-2005, 10:07 PM Are they gunmetal?? hmm? I always thought they were silver, but the styling still isn't my style, I'll opt for a swap.
Yeah i was surprised my self so i touched it and they were Gunmetal i liked that car to bad it was most likely was goin to be sold right there i helped the chevy guy out by almost selling that car.
CoBIZZLE 05-02-2005, 10:16 PM LOL you touched it!! What did you think it was brake dust!! Good one 87!!!
87camaroPA 05-02-2005, 10:19 PM LOL you touched it!! What did you think it was brake dust!! Good one 87!!!
Nooo i was seeing if it was a reflection of the ground but it was not. :D
CoBIZZLE 05-02-2005, 10:21 PM OOOHHH ok, my bad, that would have been hilarious though! :D
87camaroPA 05-02-2005, 10:27 PM OOOHHH ok, my bad, that would have been hilarios though! :D
I did not think it had a chance to get any brake dust the car just came off of the car carrier that morning. It was a Black one to. :p
intervoid 05-05-2005, 07:34 PM Sigh...I'm a little disappointed in myself but heres my timeslip:
Reaction .. 0.7300
60 ft ...... 2.4270
330 ft ..... 6.6411
1/8 ET 9.9391 @ 74.59
1/4 ET 15.1158 @ 96.60
My reaction sucks and I didn't drag out first as long as I would have liked because I was slightly nervous it being my first time on a dragstrip and all.
87camaroPA 05-05-2005, 07:55 PM Yeah not real bad though. For your first time, i will probaly do the same thing.
WRicerX 05-05-2005, 08:25 PM Yep, just give yourself time to get familiar with it...and get past the jitters. Usually takes me a couple runs to lose that "shaky leg" syndrome. :D
CoBIZZLE 05-05-2005, 08:40 PM You'll definitely hit better, also concentrate on your shift points and the quickness of your shifts as well as the launch.
87camaroPA 05-05-2005, 08:58 PM Yeah once you get used to the car you can drive it like you stoll it. LOL J/k on the stoll part but you know what i mean.
