: just put the injen cold air on
Youloseagain 04-03-2006, 04:26 PM I put my cold air on over the weekend and had no problems. Is it me or does putting this on lower your gas mileage due to romping the hell out of it all the ime to hear the whine. I cant get enough. Also my input on the CEL situation is that whoever put the intake on put the MAS in backwards and didnt match the arrows , causeing the airflow to be off. Just my opinion.
CobaltDude81 04-03-2006, 04:33 PM how could the person possibly put it in backword? its 2 bolts opposite eachother.. put it in the wrong way and they dont match up... and yea it kills your mile per gallon.... try romping on it really hard and pressing the reset button on the econ. mine goes down to 5mpg
willncandace 04-03-2006, 04:36 PM what year is you ss? and did you have any problems with the fit?
TheToolmaker 04-03-2006, 05:00 PM I put my cold air on over the weekend and had no problems. Yep :D . I actually got better mileage with mine today on the way home from work (45 miles). I averaged 34-MPG on the trip which is just a tad better than normal.
When I tried the first time to put my MAF in mine it wouldn't fit (had it backwards). So that couldn't be the problem. I have now put 300 miles on my car and no CEL, so I am happy (for now).;)
There's arrows? :D :D
I didn't even notice, just matched the holes up and haven't had a CEL yet (almost 2k miles since). I had a hell of a time making it fit, though. It would either rub on the inside of the bumper or the fender liner, no matter which way I twisted. Then I finally made my own bracket, still rubs the inside of the bumper but only lightly.
Gas mileage is still averaging around 28 mpg highway for me, about the norm since it was broken in (actually averaged 32 mpg on my first long trip, less than 1000 miles on it at start).
5LtrBtr 04-03-2006, 08:28 PM A few questions,
CEL = ?
Does CAI help MPG?
Is Injen CAI a name brand?
Old gear head attempting to get up to speed here, sorry.
Nauticabri 04-03-2006, 08:36 PM CEL= Check Engine Light
generally an intake will keep MPG equal to or better than stock under similar driving
Injen is a brand CAI stands for Cold Air Intake
and yes, Injen is a well known name brand CAI
SuperBlueSS 04-04-2006, 06:40 AM Its not really that romping the pedal is killing your gas mileage. It's more aar regaurdless of what speed you are driving. More Air= More fuel. Your MAF tells the cpu that your getting more air so it compensates by giving more fuel so you don't lean out. I have an Aem on my Cavalier LS Sport and my gas mileage is nothing to what it use to be. But when I put it back to stock Intake and I got it back!
SuperBlueSS 04-04-2006, 06:42 AM Maybe some condition you may get better MPG on the highway. I thinks it's next to impossible to get better mpg in the city with an aftermarket cai.
Youloseagain 04-04-2006, 02:54 PM BlueSS thank you for the info i already knew, i was just saying i love the sound of getting of the supercharger now and it makes me get on it more which uses more fuel, you guys in here take everything to a new level, jesus

what year is your 'balt? and any fitment issues? i have my injen on order :D
Nauticabri 04-04-2006, 05:50 PM Injen did have fitment issues, basically the bracket was in the wrong place and that threw everything else off. Causing rubbing and bulging of the bumper and things since the filter was pushing tight against it. injen has since corrected this problem and have moved the location of the bracket. If you get an "old" one that doesn't line up and has fitment problems (as I did) Injen will take care of you. They're sending me a brand new pipe, taking a $50 deposit until I send them my old one back and they receive it (to make sure I'm not lying and don't just keep it and sell it basically) if you have any fitment problems call them, or e-mail tech@injen.com and they'll take care of you because they do know of the problem.

thanks for the help, so how is the injen? was it worth it? i just want to hear the supercharger (i know this makes me sound like a kid but it makes me anxious :D )
Mrmaasta 04-05-2006, 12:51 AM Got mine tonight! Goes in Saturday, VERY excited!
TheToolmaker 04-05-2006, 05:07 AM I put one one my SS/SC last week. It was a new style and was still a PITA to put in. BUT, IT WAS WORTH IT (and it did fit without pushing on anything). I left off the little rubber thing that is included in the kit so if you have fitment problems try that. (when you get the kit you will know what I am talking about). Good luck you guys will LOVE it!! :D
Nauticabri 04-05-2006, 08:32 AM thanks for the help, so how is the injen? was it worth it? i just want to hear the supercharger (i know this makes me sound like a kid but it makes me anxious :D )
Yeah it's definitely worth it, looks great and you'll immidiately notice a difference in the way the supercharager sounds. It'll whine like crazy, especiallly high rpms.
