Just curious what some of you think. I see a lot of talk of ricer this and ricer that...and it's to be expected because this a forum for domestic cars. Other forums (imports or whatever else) are the same way. Nothing wrong with having a preference. I know some of you see me trolling around and I'm sure you want to get it off your chest. ;) So go ahead, be honest.
To me, there are imports, and there are "ricers." There are imports that I find very respectable. Then there are hondas with 4 inch fart cans on stock everything else, the occasional cavalier with underbody neon lights, and the Neon RT with a frickin' Boeing 747 wing glued to the trunk. If it makes you feel any better I had a cavy for 7 yrs. It was fun...maybe not "performance" fun, but I drove it into the ground. Wish I knew more about tuning back then. I think that's why I'm so interested in the Cobalt.

ANYTHING can be riced out IMO I went to the 50th anniversary Corvette convention in Nashville and there was a C4 with a HUGE ASS WING and CHROME TRIM EVERYWHERE!!!!! And even stickers to boot!!! More stickers than paint is definitely a giveaway!!!

I feel cars can have some rice but not be ricers. For instance, a Toyota Supra with 20gs in engine mods that is capable of a low 10 1/4 with an aluminum wing or aftermarket body kit is not a ricer. If anything, the kit/spoiler is a compliment to the car itself.

As far as Indy cars go....some used V6s (Toyota). Heavily turbo charged. I saw some displays down at Indy. But any more, I guess it's mostly V8s. Regulations and so forth.

Technically that would make the last gen of Mustangs factory rice, they have that hood scoop and the rear brake scoops that dont go anywhere.

From Supras and Skylines to Civics and Sentras, theyre all rice to me. Call me ignorant or what you will, but this import and sport compact shit has got to stop now. All these loser kids running around in 2300 pound tin cans thinking their fast, when in reality their motors make 200hp but the cars are so shitty and light it doesnt take much to move them. And I wont even get started on the appearance aspect.

I just sold my '98 GTP shortly after I got my SS/SC. I already miss it. Those times are very believable as I know a guy at a place I do work for with a pulley, ecu, and cai that runs mid to high 13's. I never did anything more than a K&N filter, myself (not exactly a mod, doesn't make any difference by itself either), but I know the stock air box is extremely restrictive and the blower only pushes 8 psi max. Pontiac was more concerned with keeping the engine and exhaust quiet, than turning the horses loose. The handling totally sucks, especially compared to a Cobalt SS, but I do have much respect for that V6.

I have a functional heat extractor on the hood of my GTP, it really works well!! When driving , even hard driving my temp never goes over 165-170. I will post some picks of it later, its pretty sweet looking.

I hope your joking and yes I drove one! MY GTP 8 U, car is running what 14.48 and it's not stock! That would be slow for a car that has 3.8 liters and a supercharge! I had a bone stock WRX wagon that ran 14.3 and think that's slow!

AWD>FWD when it comes to launches. I bet they trapped around the same stock, you can just get off the line alot better. 14.3 aint bad for a bone stock WRX wagon! My cars strength is mid range and lower highway speeds, and yours is off the line. I cant see my intake and plugs giving me more than .3 total, so with the same 2.12 60' it would probably run a 14.7 or so. Remember, your WRX is a bit lighter too, so you got a slight advantage there, as well as being stick. As I said, I have my strengths and weaknesses as do you in your WRX. And yes, 14's is slow nowadays ;) I dont think my car is that quick or anything. Should get 13's once I get those other mods on, and then I'll be done. Its a year round daily driver, I'm trying to make durability and gas mileage my main concerns with speed being the low priority. Its fun enough for me!!

REDSS, just keep digging yourself a deeper hole of disrespect, because thats what youre doing. Go look through some of my posts and youll see I have offered a great deal of technical help to these guys. I'm here because a friend was thinking about getting an SS, so I wanted to check out the forums and see what these cars were all about. I was originally just gonna lurk a bit, but I posted here and there and thought it would be cool to help some of these guys out.
And if theres MANY regional GP forums, all of which are a chapter of the main forum/club at www.clubgp.com . My local chapter is UNYCGP or Upstate New York Club Grand Prix. So yes, there are forums and there are alot of them. Do your homework before you ask such a retarded question.
