:( Sad, sad day. I've been noticing something in the past day or so, but it really kicked up today and my check engine light came on. The engine seems to be missing or something, so I took it in today. I got a free Malibu as a rental and I feel power-starved. I don't even feel acceleration at all.

I'll post updates as I hear them.

Well I finally got it back.

It was indeed mis-firing as I thought, so they replaced the plugs (no difference), replaced the coils (no difference), and then decidied it was a good idea to check the plug wiring...oh, the cable chaffs against the air compressor? What.... Anyways, the wire was bare, hitting the metal of the compressor and was short circuiting, how awesome is this? You guys might want to re-route those wires or something when you get the car, or maybe I just had bad luck..

Its running fine now. (even though they did eat A LOT of my gas...probably took it out joyriding..bastards)

im sensing bulletin i check si daily for new bulletins that apply to the ss but only one that is anything is ac inop at low mileage due to a 134 over fill calls for a system drain and refill to 1.1 lbs. I think its funny that the just threw parts at it. if i did that at work id get shot besdides step on is check for bulletins and PI's then pull a wiring diagram you had joe blow "i've been fixing cars since you were in diapers dont tell me im a hack or i dont know what im doing" yep every dealer has them we call them the old skool guys give them a carb there great does no good whenb u have a scan tool in your hand.

Yours may not be the wire causin the light it could just be one of the loose battery terminals, causing your computer to loose memory. It has happened to a couple of people now...

Wait for an 06 like me, all bugs should be worked out, and you'll have your loan knocked down a pretty good bit as well. Then you wouldnt have as much overhead.

Hey I know this is an SS forum for the Cobalt but I have one of the first 05s that just have the 2.2 L ecotec and I am not getting a check engine light but a power steering light. The car only has less than 50,000 miles but the lights all pulsate and when the power steering light comes on the lights go out completely. Dealer said that there was a short in a wire. It would cost 102 per to find this short was wondering if anyone has had this problem or has heard of it? any info would be great thanks.
