I just ran a guy last night up in Clinton, IA (just messing around a little)... Its fairly obvious the outcome but the guy said he ran a 13.7 stock.. little suspicious and I thought I would ask if that has even happened yet... (judging by 1/8th times ive seen its not)..
Just curious... Thanks.

hehe.. I just smiled and gave him a thumbs up... I almost bought one (several post here from when they first came out and i was looking at them)...
13.7 definately didn't seem right... but I havnt looked in a while and sometimes you end up with foot in mouth so I just gave respect and decided to check.

Best stock times i have seen on this site is low 14's. If the cobalt you raced was stage 2 then it could be possible. Stage 2 and torque dampener seems to perform miracles on this car.

Dude, I belive he was asking about a cobalt SS who was lying about something... and we've been over the F-body thing, the SS is slower than the Z in general
Unless you're talking Z24! ;)

big emphasis on the "in general" part. Some of us are sticking to our guns and saying the SS is the better performer.

Your kidding right?? The Z and the SS are the same... MM&FF ran both an SS and Z28 to high 12s bone stock.

Here is a 2001 SS - 12.96 @ 107mph

Same excerpt about the SS and they mention the Z28 that ran 12.89 @ 108mph.
So if you use those results the Z28 is quicker.. (by next to nothing)

Same powertrain, SS is heavier. Not sure what impact the suspension changes had on the launch, so that could make up for the weight. Also, rumour has it that a couple vette-spec engines made it into the last few made, so those will pick up a tick.
In general, I would expect the Z28 to win a series of races... they're close enough to be a tossup for a one-off shot though

;) My 2001 has LS6 components ;) The 2001 ~ 2002 cars got a few minor extras....LS6 Intake, block, different cam, etc....
