We ran at Fontana this weekend at the Battle of the Imports. We were doing well, but they had to shut the event down because of curfew. We will be back out at the track when they finish the race. We test and tune almost every thursday out at Irwindale. We wont be there this week because of the Goodguys race in Pomona that weekend with our other car. We will be testing the following thursday, and then we have a summit race out at irwindale that sunday. Hope to see you there!

Thanks for posting that! We had such a blast at that race. We went two rounds, but then after that, the race got shut down because of curfew. I think they are inviting everyone who was still in it to finish the race later in the year. Hopefully we'll find out when that is going to be sometime in the near future. Again, thanks so much for the video. Ive been slacking on posting my pictures and videos. Im glad one of us is on our game! ;) Take care!
JoeySpicuzza 08-01-2005, 12:24 PM Hey Erica I was just wondering what kind of car you drive personally, and what are some the specs (hp, 1/4 times etc) is the Phase 5 your driving an automatic or manual? Im assuming manual but it was never stated and I was just asking, I have heard of alot of automatic race cars....
MChat 08-01-2005, 01:19 PM We test and tune almost every thursday out at Irwindale.
Is that an 1/8 mile track? I'd be interested to know what your 1/8 mile times are. I bet you're beating my best times (~7.65) to the 1/8th. :D

I drive a corvette while im not on the race track. Ive always been a big chevy fan. :) The Cobalt is an automatic, i shift with a button on the wheel. Having an automatic helps a lot with the consistency of hitting the shift points.

Yea, it is an 1/8th mile track. Your 1/8th mile number is awesome! Keep me posted on your times and stuff. :) We've been practicing a lot there to try and get the sixty foot times to drop. It ran a best sixty foot of a 1.68, hopefully it will stay consistently at that. We've had the car down to a 7.41 and the boost was set at 19lbs.
MChat 08-01-2005, 03:25 PM I'd love to get a 1.6 60'... that's gotta be a ride :D My best 60' is a 1.84 :(
I've got some ideas on getting the car to hook up better on the launch... whatever I do, it has to be either easy to remove / adjust or street friendly as I drive my car to work every day.
I'll be heading to the track more often once it cools down out here. I'll probably be running it on the street tune (~18psi or ~400whp), hopefully getting that 60' time down. Once the launch is worked out, I'll dump some race gas in it on a cool day and see how close to the 10's I can get :D
Good luck w/ the Cobalt and let me know if you're going to be in the Phoenix Az area for any events.

:D One of these days I will get to Irwindale and swing by and say HI. Good luck with the "rain check" and definitely let us know when it is going to take place.
ENocita 08-15-2005, 04:37 PM Hey guys,
Heres a little more Cobalt Phase5 news for ya. We ran a Summit race out at Irwindale the other day, and unfortunately we went out first round. =( the good news, is that we went out because we went much faster than we said we were going to go. We ended up running a 7.37 @ 96mph on the eighth! Very exciting. So now that the season is starting to slow down, we are going to start being more aggressive with the boost and start turning out faster times. Hope all is well! Take care :)
WopOnTour 08-15-2005, 11:28 PM Hi Erica
Great to hear the Phase 5 car is improving!
So I presume the transaxle a "prepped" 4T65E then? What type of control module do you guys use to work with the push button shift? Is it something available for purchase somewhere?
Thanks
WOT
I hate you! 08-16-2005, 06:44 AM Wait till you see, phase 6.5

You gotta love Irwindale's track prep. If only Fontana was that good.
What was the 60 ft on that pass? Were you launching on a trans brake? What rpm?
What was your 1/8th on the 11.90 pass at Pomona(Good Guys)?

Sweet, that should be good for a sub 11.5 second pass.

We ran an 11.81 at Pomona and the 1/8 mile time was only a 7.70... When we ran the 7.37 1/8 mile, we would have been hauling on the quarter mile. I was launching on the transbrake on that pass.

Awesome, that car is going continue to go faster and faster. You're not allowed to run a 10 before an SRT though. :D

If I get my cage in by Nov 20th, I'll be shooting for a 10 on that day ;)

It's an MSD system using the MSD shift module. And it is available for purchase. For all the additional details of everything on the car, you can check out the GM tuner website. I'm going to be out of town for a couple of weeks. When I get back, I'll be glad to answer any more questions. Hope all is well. Take care :)
