: Exciting news from K&N on intakes for SS !
Modernceo 06-29-2005, 03:21 PM Seems like we are now about 30~ days from K&N releasing the new K&N typhoon intake for our Cobalt SS's !
They have made it as a one piece setup, and have gained good power with it!
This will be the first intake on the market, and with K&N's unparalleled quality and fitment, we know this will be a good intake.
Stay tuned, we will provide more information !

Dan Richards 07-11-2005, 09:09 PM Has anyone purchased this unit ? Is it an exact replacement ?
Thanks for any help....
Its not out yet, Bob; K&N's Typhoon intakes are full factory replacement and include everything you need. I have never heard a complaint about them from anyone I've installed them for, other than the price factor, but its really not that much different price-wise than any other premium intake.
You can see the quality.

phxSS 07-11-2005, 10:43 PM 240whp after intake? you're telling me than this thing gives us almost 20hp? i find that hard to believe.
mayo11297 07-12-2005, 12:46 AM how hard is it to install? and what about estimated time involved
CoBIZZLE 07-12-2005, 12:51 AM Well first, he said AROUND 230whp, secondly, "some" SS's are dynoin around 217+ stock and JUST a drop in gave Modern's SS a 3whp increase.... Maybe its REALLY restrictive??? Maybe they have a freak... Possible, yes. Likely, ???

it's going to be interesting to see how it goes into our cars. after pulling out the ss airbox, i'm just not sure what the K&N will look like for our car
bowofdoom 07-12-2005, 07:30 AM yea the results were between like mid 220's to 230 sumtin i can get ahold of him and ask him and post exacts.

no this intake for the cobalt ss is not out yet
CoBIZZLE 07-12-2005, 09:51 AM Yes please! That would be great! thanks doom!
fifasf 07-12-2005, 10:27 AM I will say this, I cut off the stock filter box below the sensor and shaved the tube so the e-1009 filter would fit on just like a CAI. That filter box "stock" is very very restrictive. I could not see how any air was getting in that thing. As soon as I started her up I could hear the difference sucking up air, the SC screamin' . Performance wise, It feals more aggresive when pushed. Would probaly consider a k&n intake depending on the hp gain. next mod 3.25" pulley.
Modernceo 07-15-2005, 09:07 AM Update : Getting closer to production and release, this system is looking really good !
YellowSXT 07-15-2005, 11:21 AM & so it (the mods) Begin!!!
