Overheat issue

Hi Guys..
First post, thanks in advance!

My wife has a 2006 SS Red and she just turned 70K on it. She called me today at work and said it was getting hot.. She said over 190 and got a low coolant alarm.

I talked her through filling the coolant to get home (Thanks to a Walmart near by)

I did not get to check it until late, but ran it in the garage and the temp got up to 207 and no fan kick in... I killed it at 207.

I looked in the fuse box, saw a fan 1 and fan 2 fuse and relay switch. Fuses looked fine.

I also saw on another post that the fan 1 swithc kicks in at 200 and the fan 2 at 230. IS that true? IF so sounds like the swithc for fan 1 may just be bad...
Thoughts?
John

No mods yet... it's stock.. She wants to start doing stuff to it which is fine.

Thanks! I may try the switch first, if that does not work then the dealer.

While waiting in line to run 1/4, mine gets up to about 210 or 212 range. I have to turn the A/C on to have the fans cool it down before i go. Turning the car off doesn't do crap either, it just keeps getting hotter. Hottest I've seen is 220. This engine runs really poorly when it is that hot. Stock with CAI, and I can't get below 15.21. WTF?

So are you guys telling me that 207 in the garage may not be a good test of the fans?
I'll road test it today when I get home...

Any clue which is fan 1 and which is fan 2? So I know if I get to 230 and one kicks in it is actually fan 2...

my ss/sc did the same thing it ended up being a small hole in the radiator so if i were you i would take it in for warranty if you have one. and i mean the same exact thing out of nowhere.

to figure out which fan is one at two im assuming they are talking about the radiator fan and the a/c fan. turn on the a/c full blast and which ever fan kicks on is the a/c fan. by the way 207 isnt really that hot. my 05 ss/sc ran 190 constantly. to test the cuircut of the radiator fans find the cooling fan relay under the hood in the junction box and take off the plastic cover of the relay. push the relay back in and make the relay close contact with your finger. the fan should kick on when you close the relay. this will tell you if the cuircut as well at the fans themselves are working.
