Clutch Stench

So the about a month ago I let my friend drive my car. He is very inexperienced with a manual transmission. I had him race it a bit. I couldn't figure out at the time why the RPMs were way up and he was flooring it but the car was not getting up and going.

After we got out you could smell the clutch horribly! You could smell the clutch for the next 2 weeks with purely normal driving. I've had this happen before but it's always went away pretty much right away. I've also noticed the same smell when I've burnt out clutches in other cars but those were always at 150k miles and such. I don't notice the smell anymore though.

Should I be worried?

Maybe your clutch is worn out??

I had to replace mine because I would floor it and I would not accelerate and my rpms would max out.

Oh, forgot to explain why it did not accelerate like it should've. He was not releasing the clutch fast enough. But everything seems to be fine now.

Yeah, I knew he was a rookie and I shouldn't have told him to race it. Totally my fault. You think it should be fine though?

Yeah it should be fine unless you hear rattling from the transmission or something....

Just don't let him drive it again unless you want to replace your clutch soon!
