Do you spend alot of time on the rev limiter. Such as racing and bouncing off the rev limiter while shifting. If you are, there is a gear at/near/or on the flywheel, not sure where its at never investigated it further. GM put on in a PDF trainee file on the web that the gear at that location was made of poor quality metal and expands and makes the trany fail if you spend alot of time on the rev limiter.

They do have a replacement for it that wont expand but i forgot the part number and cant find the pdf file again. Only reason i dont care is because i have an automatic and soon to have a supercharged/staged 2 LS cobalt.

Is that a typo? I am unaware of a supercharger for the modern 2.2L or even 2.4L. Nor was i aware of the ability to stage them.

yes, gm put out in the ecotec build guide that the 2.0 supercharger bolts right up to the 2.2L and uses the same computer PCM flash. the 2.2L is just a bored out 2.0L
