I'm watching the spelling bee on TV, this is wild.....
btw, that word got this chic (young lady), who looked alot older out of the competition.

I like hoe they throw words at them that the normal person does not even know what the hell it is i might even heard that word that got her and never new it....

weltschmerz Sadness over the evils of the world, especially as an expression of romantic pessimism.
thats the word that stumped the 2nd place girl....

ursprache a parent language especially one reconstructed from the evidence of later languages (thats the winning word )

What gets me is that those two words and a couple of others I heard were used in this spelling bee are German. What are they doing in an American spelling bee? Will next years champion win because he/she knew how to spell something in that African click/pop language?
