cobalt SS SC questions

alright i know you guys probably get these types of questions all the time, and like me do get annoyed sometimes but i am just seeking some help. i am not a troll and respect the cobalt ss even though i do prefer my srt vehicles.

anyways my friend totaled his truck the other day and now is starting to look at cars since he wanted one for a while. he is looking at the Cobalt SS SC and the SRT-4. even though i like the SRT-4, i think he would be better off with a Cobalt SS. for one it seems like every srt-4 has been messed with to much and the features of the srt-4 are yes i know pathetic, compared to the SS. anyways even though i know some stuff about the SS SC, since it was a comman car in the group, i really dont as much and i would like to get to know so i can get him the best car out out there.

i know these have had some transmission issues, however i have heard its mostly operator error more than say actual mechanical issues. however since i havent followed up on in it in a while i was just wondering what issues they were and any sure sign to know if its going. yes i am well aware to see if the clutch slips and how smoothly it shifts.

chevrolet warranty - i have no glue. every car maker is different. hes looking at an 06 so if im thinking correctly chevrolets 5 year, 100,000k waranty? maybe im wrong. also he would be the secong owner and was wondering does warranty go with car or owners?

common issues with these cars?

common things to watch out for specifically, know when to walk away

any other tips would be appreciated

average MPG your getting?

thanks in advance for those who actually comment, or provide links.

I am unaware of Cobalt SS/SC tranny issues.... Not saying it doesn't happen, but aslong as I have been here and on other forums the tranny isnt really a issue. You friend should consider a Cobalt SS/TC...

Your right about the chevy warranty (5yr 100,000 miles). And it doesn't matter how drivers the car has seen. The warranty will last within that 5yr 100,00. I bought a 07 Cobalt SS/SC about 7 months ago. I have 2 yrs left on the powertrain warranty. I would have loved to go with an 08,09, or 10 models b/c there all turbocharged. But didn't really the funds to get those. I'm still more than happy with my 07 ss/sc. Just be carefull when your buying a used "performance car". Chances are "granny" wasn't driving it around for the last couple of years......ya know
