New member, Hopefully new question.

My wife just bought an '06 cobalt 2D manual trans. Basic c ar. No bells or whistles.

Today I was drivin g it and went to a convenient store. Shut it off and went in.
Came out and car started but rpm's fluctuated from 1100 or 400. Ran rough.
Seemed like it went from 4 to 2 cylinders. Got it home (only a mile away) and shut it off. Tried to restart it and nothing. Check engine light and I guess it's the security light flicker fast but nothing on the key. No starter or anything. This car only has 40,000 miles. Has run like butter since we got it a few months ago.

Only thing I can think of is since we bought it at a criminals car lot, (express credit auto) that their system shutdown feature they add to it malfunctioned. Am I right? They are closed today and it's our only car.

BTW yes they are paid up. lol

Any and all help is deeply appreciated.

Strange. 21 views and no replies. I guess people lead on like they know more than they really do. Thanks for nothing.

He is on to us....

Its not a secret anymore!!

But no seriously dude, you have no post of trouble codes so we can't really give you any 2 cents on this one yet.

If it isn't throwing any codes either, then it may be only something that the dealership can diagnose, hence what Skoal posted.

I am sorry for being out of line but my frustration warrants it. Maybe not to you but I am ticked about this car.

I would give trouble codes but I can't retrieve them due to this stupid problem. What I described is all it will do.

Again I apologize for my rudeness.

Oh I will. I still think it's the used car box that they use to shut down the car on non payers.

Would you believe that they "say" that is was the battery and a few connections? Why wouldn't they check all that before selling it? I swear used car lots should be against the law. lol

Good thing is it didn't cost me a dime. Not even the towing fee.
