oil change? dealership has me confused :/

i got a thing from the dealership sayin i may need the maintainace 1 thingy. so i looked up what all they do ie. oil change tires rotaited etc. (on gm's site) but at the buttom it says only if - its been 10 months sense car was brought. or 4 or 5k miles forget which exactly.. so now im confused about when i should change my oil i grew up doing it 3k miles on older cars and new cars / trucks 5k . is there a special oil they put in it at the factory (ppl told me this). so should i wait 4-5k miles or 10 months to change it (10 months seems like a long time for oil ..... the sound pretty umm strange to me , may not know alot bout cars but i know that seems weird) . or should i go ahead and change it now semse its been like 4 or even 5 months sense i brought the car its got 1300 miles on it.. :/ why ppl g***a make life so confusing for me seriously RAWR lol... i feel dumb asking this question but between gms site / the dealership telling me theyd call me when i need to come. to onstar saying nothin is needed and they suppositly notifiy me as well when its time. and the oil life thing in the car saying its at 75% and ppl telling me theres some magical special brake in oil which is why u keep it in much longer than reguler oil. i miss the good old days.....

There are many different theories about that 1st oil change.....I can't say I even understand it..... My own opinion, change it a 2k, and if using synthetic (which is a good idea with a turbo engine) then you can trust your oil monitor in the car, usually 4k to 5k depending on driving conditions and climate..... If you stick to the "old" 3k method, I don't believe you will be getting the most value for your money but you won't be hurting anything either, other then your pocket book. Todays synthetics and modern engines can/does allow one to go up and in some cases exceed 5k miles in between changes. It is also my opinion (I'm sure some will disagree) that at 1300 miles your valves are fully seated and your engine is already broken in. But I have a different mindset when it comes to break in...... I run them hard and strong, and allow them to coast in nuetral when slowing down, notice the rear window sticker on my GTO when brand new, I broke her in some on this street:
