Stock Catalytic Converter questions

anyone have any info about the stock expansion joint on the Catalytic Converter assy?
the joint has broken but this is all part of the Cat as an assy.
Have questioned dealer about a GM warrenty as its listed as an extended EMISSIONS component. But no clear answer as yet.
Walker doesn't even list this item and the GM part will list at over $1000.00!!
this started as a small exh leak and was hard to detect until this joint had split quite a lot.
Has anyone else had this issue and did GM cover under Warrenty.
This is on a 2006 ss/sc and in Canada by the way

On my 2007 SS/SC, my cat is covered until 70,000 miles and it is under warranty. I have had it replaced 3 times already.... No charge.

Any questions about the Balt, all answered here:

was the cat itself defective the 3 times?
ours is just the "flex" or expansion joint but it is all one peice.
the first go at a dealer says GM canada will not replace this on warenty as the "cat" has not failed?
just seeing what others have had happen
thks for the input.

It damages internally every time. The titanium in the inside breaks off and rattles and the joint also gets really loose and develops a lot of play....
