Piston Rings/Turbo

Hello. When I drive my 06 cobalt ss tc conversion I it hits the boost at 3.1 thousand rpms and sometimes "skips" at about 3.1 for a short amount of time then continues boosting. Is this related to piston rings or the turbo?

Does it feel like loss of power for a second?? Do you have a downpipe or a catalytic converter?? If you do have a cat, it might be clogged. If not, you may have tremendous turbo lag?? Need more info.

Yes I have a QTP downpipe that has a switch to open and close the dump and it also has a catalyic converter. Yea is feels like a loss of power for about a second it just stops boosting then starts up again about a second after...

Check the wastegate and see if the spring is loaded right. How do you have a downpipe AND Cat?? I thought the downpipe deletes the Cat?? But anyways, the wastegate may be the problem and check that switch and if it has a timer to open and close the dump. That may be a possibility.

Well the dump has a fuse in it to open and close it idk if thats what you mean by a timer. And do I have to take off the whole turbo to check the wastegate spring?

Sometimes, the switch to open the dump has a timer like 1 second delay or stuff like that from what I hear, but then again I am not that hot with turbos. I don't think you need to take the turbo off. Just check the wastegate. Its up to you.
