Catalytic Converter, help

I need a new cat converter but before i but the car the dealer just passed emissions. So I have a year to get a new one, however why does it cost 800$ for a new cat on the 2006 SS SC but on the SS it just costs like 200$.. Really i know a supercharger pumps air through my engine but that much of a price difference?!?

Why dont you just get an aftermarket one. It would be cheaper.

Check out Vibrant. There are aftermarket. And they are $800 for a new one from the dealer.

yeah but the thing is the air going through the converter must be different. I mean why else is it 800 on the SS SC, but 200 on the SS

The reason that the SC cat is more expensive is because it is a high flow cat. The non sc SS is not. I can guarantee you that for sure. I know that is expensive but that is just how it is. Just buy one from Vibrant and they will sell you headers and cat at the same time for like $700. And they are supposed to be a real good brand. Get more exhaust flow from doing headers. Its a good investment and better on the engine....
