Boost Gauge in SS SC

Would anyone be able to please give me as much information as you know about how the boost gauge in the cobalt SS SC works, what it is, and why it is there?

(I would rather read forum goer information than the cobalts manual which has half a page for the boost)

well, the guage shows you vacuum and boost
the increments doesnt matter
its mainly for looks.
but you can watch it for gas mileage where you can not use any boost while accelerating.
and to make sure its producing the proper boost

Just like jonsstockrocket said, It displays the MAP readings in an analog style fashion. Nothing technical there. It's just for looks.

What is the stock boost setting for the 05 SS SC Cobalts? I've hit I think 13 but I'm not sure.
