Taillight mod?

Has anyone seen anything or made anything to make our center lights in the trunk lid light up? I know that it is just a reflector and a backup light, but I think it would be cool to put some LEDS in there or replace it with something so that all 4 lens lit up. I always hated that on our cars, and the last generation Impalas that had round dual round taillight, but only the outside lit up. I'm interested in playing with this, but I was wondering if anyone had any info yet.

Thanks

It may be replaceable by the stock outside lights. You would lose your back up lights but could relocate them via foglights on the lower valence (in the gray area). If done right it could look slick.

If you do LEDs, I don't know your knowledge on them, but make sure to do your research. You will need a matched resistor to make them work right.

I'm interested in the same thing as I want to convert all of my rear lights to led so that they can match my 3rd brake light. I've heard of a guy that made some led's for that outer red ring and sectioned off the reverse lights to meet federal regs. To make them functional he spliced into the 3rd brake light wiring so that when ever he applies the brakes the lights work.

I used 24 white 50,000mcd LEDs in each backup light. I found the mod on .net

This is in the morning. I have them hooked to the parking lights that way they stay on when the lights are on and not just when the brakes are on.

Origami78, how many LEDs did you use, that's the brightest I've seen so far.
