I'd ask you to bring some faygo to the july 3rd meet in Little America, WY but it sounds like you're not going to make it.
I made a similar tour across the country to Dover, DE in 2004 and wanted to see the Coor's brewing plant but I got there at about 2am on my way back to Salt Lake from Atlanta, GA and Cleveland, TN. Defenitely recommend that while you're in denver (j/k). I defenitely remember the praire dog. Oh, be careful in Kansas. They have a law that goes a little somthing like this: 9 you're fine, 10 you're mine. Meaning it is okay to go 9 over the posted speed limit, but as soon as you're 10 over you get a ticket. No joke, it's on the books. That's how the small towns make their money. I got screwed with this even though I was going the flow of traffic 130 east of the colorado boarder on I-70. also, on the kansas turnpike there is a gas station on the middle of the highway, left exit. just though i'd let you know before you ran out of gas.
Careful in Chicago, the highways are shit. They ate my land cruisers alternator just before going thru the toll booth to go into indiana. also, iowa has a few good restaraunts east of des moines. mom and pop restaruants. other than that it is a depressing drive until you get close to the mississippi river. the arch in st. louisa is on i-70, but be careful, the highways are shit there too. notre dame is in north bend indiana which is on i-80. indiana's pretty cool.
OH, OH!!! The Omish are in Michigan. CHECK THEM OUT! Jsut don't run over their horses and carriages. They'll kill you, not a good thing considering they are pretty peaceful people. And they make good stuff without modern machinery.
Best of all you won't be too far from Lordstown, OH where they make the Cobalt. A must see if you ask me.
Also, if you take I-75 south to I-71 you will end up in Louisville, KY...home o fthe Louisville slugger. You take a tour of the plant. Then take I-64 to St. Louis, Mo and catch I-70 home. It's worth the drive and missing Indianapolis. All the have is the Dodge Durango plant on I-70. Either way you take go the speed limit in Dayton, OH until you get to Indiana or Kentucky. Cops are the worst I have ever seen. Probably becasue of the local rich guy who is always getting busted for speed in his highend exotics (ferrari's and lambo's, etc.).
That's all I can think of for now. Have a great trip.
