Got a couple Q's

I got a 2006 Cobalt LS and im looking to install some interior neons and i couldnt find the interior fuse box. Does the Cobalt even have one? Then i went to jump start my old car because the battery was dead, and i pop the hood... and no battery wtf... all that was there was a positive thing coming out of the fuse box under the hood..... new cars..... why cant everything be normal.... i thought i heard somewhere that the battery is in the trunk, is that true?

thanks,
later

yes, the battery is in the trunk. but if you're going to jump a car, you don't need to hook it directly to the battery in the car. there is a positive terminal under the hood with a red cap on it and the neg terminal is on top of the driver side strut tower.

the interior fuse box is on the passenger side of the car. it is on the right side of the main column down by the floor. it would be right by your left leg if you were sitting in the passenger seat. just pull that plastic cover off and it's behind there... that's where i hardwired my radar detector to, so i wouldn't have to get a really long cord.

there isn't really technically a negative terminal, but anywhere that you hook it to the car the goes to the fram acts as the neg terminal. it just so happens checy marked the top of the driver side strut tower as being the neg terminal. at least on the ss/sc they did. there's a bunch of spare fuse spots. there's a diagram on the back of the cover when you pull it off and it tells you what spots are are what.

i don't remember which one it was exactly, i used a test light to find a live what if you don't have a test light it's gonna be pretty hard to do. i used the light and when i found a live one with the car on i had a friend shut off the car to make sure it wasn't a constant live. just make sure you leave the driver's side door open since the power in our cars goes off AFTER you open the door or if the door is already open right away.

Hey guys thanks for the info. I ended up running some wire directly from the battery and hooked up the floor neons. Took me about a hour to do it all. Looks great. i'll post some pic up later.

do you have an inline fuse? if you don't have an inline fuse and you're running directly off the battery you run the risk of blowing whatever is hooked up if the power spikes. just a thought.
