Well, now that my cars thoroughly broken in, and my friend finally has a tach on his '05 Focus, we decided to go mess around on a backroad that we're familiar with. Big, long, staright and never any cops, its the perfect road to mess around on. My other friend, who has an '06 STi was gonna follow along and judge, and he just wanted to see it firsthand anyways. Well, we had an even takeoff, and I gradually pulled away from him. My car is stock other than an intake and a short shifter, and his Focus is stock other than an exhaust/short shifter/springs, so we were matched up pretty fairly. I did beat him (we just raced until we ran out of road basically, b/c theres a big turn at the end of the road and we slow down at the hill before that turn). I'd say by at least 1 1/2 - 2 car lengths. Then, we all turned around and Jeff gave me a one car headstart + we both had a rolling start, b/c STi's really grip on their launch, and his car has 130hp on me, haha. Well, we both took off and he def got me on 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. But come 4th and 5th (well, he has a 6-speed so who knows what gear he was in) he wasn't pulling on me at all. Once my car got up to speed, I closed off the gap. Granted, I knew his car is faster (and also about $10,000 more expensive than mine), but he was even impressed that his car didn't pull on me as hard as he thought it would. All in all, a good time was had. Once I get my Hahn Racecraft header/downpipe and my ARK N2 cat-back, we'll see if I can't close that gap up a little more.
