Stage2 SS/SC vs. My SRT4

I was sitting at a light waiting to turn, when a yellow SS flies by just killing a white RX8. The light turns and Im gone. I catch up to the SS, the RX8 was about 1/2 mile back. I line up to the SS and gun it. I get about a car on him and then he starts gaining on me. That run was all his. By the way I was on stock boost. Second run I turn the boost up to 19lbs(not taking any chances). We line up and both take of together this time I hold him off to my rear bumper untill we ran into traffic.

not bad (for the ss)... i give it to you guys (srt-4's) they move....
but i like the torque we have on the top end as well.... both nicely built cars.
on rolling starts i notice that i can keep up with a couple different cars, off the line i'm more cautious but still do it to see where i match up for future reference.

Ran into him again. This time we were on the interstate. We both took off and it was even till about 90 where I started to pull. That is the first SS that has impressed me. You guys are starting to make these things move.

You sure you dont mean horsepower? Torque comes on down low, hp up top.

ummm, kinda... but that's a real simplistic way of looking at it. That and they're just different measurements of the same force

HP = RPM*TQ/5250

What you're really interested in for performance is the area under the curves.

An engine that advertises 300hp and 320tq with at least 90% available between say 2000 and 5000rpm will perform much better than (absurd example here) a 1000hp monster that only makes that kind of power between 4900-5100 rpm and the rest of the time limps along 20% of max power - unless that engine was coupled to the world's strongest CVT that is... you'd pretty much need infinitely fast changes through and infinite number of gears to make real use of that engine

You're roughly correct though, below 5250 tq>hp, at 5250 tq=hp, above 5250 tq<hp

And remember... hp sells cars, tq wins races

Yeah our cars are able to keep up with a lot more things from a rol lthan on the street. I like both cars. I have been beaten by some and I have beaten some. stock to stock it is still close from a roll. I do not like that you are able to do more to a turbo than a supercharger but I wouldn't have it any other way.
