Angry Frustration: My SS/SC vs. G6 GTP

Im very frustrated after tonight. I feel I should have no problem with a G6 GTP auto... They run a 16 second quarter from what I have read. My ss/sc has stage 2 with an airbox mod and is at least low 14 if not a high 13 second car.. I have no problem with Mustang GT's or stock to slightly modded SRT-4's from digs or rolls.

Two young guys pull up to me at a stoplight in a black pontiac G6 GTP with nice clean looking aftermarket wheels. The car looked nice.. It couldnt tell what it was at first.. The passenger yells.. "HEY! I bet my friends car can beat yours!" I looked the car over and thought to myself "Ha.. ok they are in for a surprise".. We take off and my clutch slips in second.. I couldn't even reselect a gear to catch up. Next stoplight.. The passenger yell: "HAHA ITS OVER YOU GOT SMOKED".. (I'm very pissed at this point) This time we take off again.. Clutch slips again.. GTP wins and quicky turns off pointing and laughing.. This really makes me angry when I should have 2-4 carlengths on that 4000lb turd. without even trying.. They weren't pulling away from me very much when I got out of my powerband.. so.. Should have been an easy takedown..

My clutch has been slipping alot lately.. Only when im boosting heavily since I got my stage 2. When I shift right before redline it will catch the next gear.. after a few 1000rpm in that gear it will slip.. and sometimes it slips in first when Im heavy on the gas... I know how to drive a clutch and have driven it perfect since the day I got it.. I've been told the stock clutch can hold 300 horse.. I don't think so.. Maybe have to start looking at some performance/racing clutches.. or take it to chevy and be like wtf?

I want to find these guys and show them my little 4 banger can own them.

Thanks.. Just needed to vent so i could go to sleep

The clutch is usally the first thing to die once you start modding. Get a clutchmaster or act and forget about it

Sorry to hear about your loss the a G6 GTP. From what I've read both cars are very equal in the 1/4. I think there is only about .1 difference. Def get a new clutch. Since you have GM stage 2 you should have been able to beat him if he was stock or even just CAI since you would have had about the same bhp, but less weight.

Ouch. Losing like that always hurts a little more.

The stock slave cylinder is the weak link in most cases. My clutch was slipping with 3,000 miles on it and 100% stock. After disassembly it was easy to see that the slave wasn't letting the clutch fully engage.

As for G6 GTP vs SS/SC in 100% stock form the SS/SC can easily put 1-1.5 cars on one from a dig. There is a video of this on the other ss forum.

A Stage 2 will kill a G6 GTP, I ran a 13.7 with Stage 2 alone in my SS/SC.
