I've got a 2007 Cobalt SS with a turbo swap. Turbo aside, the car is a joy to own and drive. It's well appointed in a basic sort of way, the styling is pleasing at least to my eye, and the ride seems solid, with sure and crisp handling. The ecotec engine is world-class and famous for its reliability and performance potential. I don't think that American manufacturers have made many sports-compacts better than the Cobalt, at least in its SS trim. I read occasional complaints about fit and finish, etc. but they sure don't apply to my car, which is put together as well as the Hondas, Toyotas, Volvos and Subies that I've owned over the years.
