I plan to have one by the end of 2005 doing all research I can.
any good pics

Hey does anyone have any good pics of the new SS...

Thanks..
Hey nice site. I'm getting a new car next year, possibly a Cobalt SS. I'm planning on getting rid of my 01 camaro v6. I'll miss her, but I'm ready for something new.
I will be buying one, 90% chance of that. It's coming down to the test drive and thats it. If I like it as much as I think I am going to, then I'll be selling my Camaro V6 project car and going with the Cobalt SS :) Nothing like GM Employee pricing + cash/trade in to knock down those payments!!!

I cannot wait! :D Oh, BTW, like my name? ;)
This Does sound like a plan, I plan on getting rid of my new 04 Mazda 3s and thinking about getting one. Just want to opt to SS and id be a happy camper.

Im already thinking off the mods i would want to do to it. They say that its gonna have a Eaton m62 Supercharger like the ones found on the GTP. :
( memories, of my old GTP. Wonder if its gonna be pretty similar?)

What about a Intercooler upgrade?? any ideas?
Welcoming myself to this forum...

Cobalt is FWD and has equal length halfshafts.

according to the latest they tested it at [email protected]h is right on par with a stock 2003 srt4(they trapped between 96-100mph)
I would imagine it would be about right on the 1/4 times if not a little less
C&D says:

0-60: 6.1
0-100: 16.0
1/4 Mile: 14.7 @ 97mph
Top Speed: 140mph
EPA (city/hwy): 23/29

MotorTrend Says:

0-60: 6.0
Braking 60-0: 115'
1/4 Mile: 14.5 @ 98.2
Skidpad: 0.89g's
Slalom: 69.0mph

FWD

Oh, heres a quote or two:

"How good is it? In testing the Cobalt SS is the fastest regular-production front-drive car through the slalom we've tested in three years, rocking through the cones even faster than the new Corvette Z51. The SS outcornered the VW R32 on the skidpad, outgunned the Mini Cooper S 0-60, and outstopped the Subaru Impreza WRX 60-to-0mph."

if you ask me, its looking VERY good in our favor! :D

So far it seems the SS will not be much of a match for the SRT in a straight line but I think Chevy went more for a mix of power and handling with the SS. The SRT is a notoriously poor handler. From what we have seen on the SS so far it is a stellar handler and I have heard rumors of the SS making around 200whp. That puts it down by about 30whp to the Dodge. It would seem the SS is good for mid 14's maybe better since the trap speeds are a tad high for mid 14's but the 03 SRT's are good for 14 flat at 99 and the 04-05's are good for high 13's at around 103. I would imagine with intake, header, exhaust a pulley and tuning the SS should see some pretty nice gains though. The only thing its missing is just like the first year of the SRT is the lack of LSD. Although I hear a quaiffe unit is already available.

Not only that but the SRT-4 has much less when it comes to luxury. The SS has lots of weight from interior acoustics and road-sound deadening.. But yet, it may lose in the straight line, it still wins in the corners :D
I did a bit more research today and it would appear that I was wrong. The LSD will be available in the performace package which also includes Recaro seats :) However it will up the price to around $24,000 :(

wow, that is a high price to pay for the performance package, but I'm sure it will be worth it.

I thought I seen your name somewhere, what's up?
did you set up this website?
I will not be buying one right away...

However, when they become used, and my finances are a little more in shape, then I will be looking for an SS.

I joined this message board to stay on top of all the news and information on the Cobalts.

Is the 205hp to the crank or the tires. I imagine its to the crank.
