Can anyone give me some instruction on how to replace a stock air filter on a cobalt SS.

"There is a special procedure for inspecting and replacing the filter. Because this procedure is difficult, you should have it done at your dealer service department."

Is it that difficult?

if you have technical know-how you can do it yourself. do a search on it, there is a thread on it in here with detailed instructions. its pretty easy.

did someone want your money?

man its really not that hard. all that you have to do is take off your front driver side wheel and start taking out all the bolts that hold on your wheel well. there are quite a few (about 15-20). then once that is off all you have to do is undo a few bolts on your airbox. pull out your old filter and put in a new one. your old one is just a round filter. K&N makes a replacement filter if you are santing to go that route. and if you are wanting to do a airbox mod all you have to do is take off your airbox and make it look like swiss cheese. (drill holes in the sides, a hole saw works good or a big ass drill bit)

first off, you can just turn the wheels all the way to the right (if car is on the ground) or all the way to the left if its on a lift. then you take maybe six screws out, and a few body clips (plastic snaps). then pull the front of the fender back, exposing the filter box. unscrew the bottom of the box, pull down on the filter, and push a new one on
