Hey guys ( and gals )

I was wondering if anyone has gone as far as to change out their fluids in the gearbox? Is it even possibe?

While talking to some in another car forum, some were talking about how much smoother their cars shifted after changing out the fluid. They WERE talking about manual transmissions as well, so they were'nt talking about chaning the ATF and filter.

Anyone done this, or at least heard of anyone??

Curious as to find ways to improve my cars' shifting.

If the fulid in there is old, then it will help to change it out.

Going to a higher quality tranmission fluid can help smooth out everything and quiet the gears down, not to mention improving the life of the transmission. It can also help keep things cooler and keep the temperature consistent. Not a huge difference, but still something positive. I wouldn't do it as a mod, just whenever you get around to changing the tranny fluid, like 50,000 miles or so, use good stuff to refill it with.

Isn't the stock fluid a high quality one?

Factory is never as good as a great aftermarket, like Red-Line or something. You might pay like 40 bucks for the fluid, maybe more.
