Cleaning up the summer rims...

2824 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  moonmage2027
I'm looking to clean up my summer rims now as they are covered in salt and dirt. The car was bought in the winter and these were the only rims that came with the car. I now have winter rims/ tires and the summer rims/ tires are in the garage waiting to be cleaned. I'd like to know what everyone here uses to make their rims look new again?

This is what the car looked like when I took delivery: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9dTgcRc6pY

Sorry for the messy garage, too cold to clean this time of year!

nice vette.

Idk what to tell you about the salt problem, cars never seen salt, or snow for that matter.
Well I'm going to try some warm soapy water first, then maybe some degreaser? Would degreaser be too harsh on the finish?
nice vette.
Here's a photo of it from this summer:

we have salt all over the roads here its not a major problem.. spray them down with wheel gold and let it set for about 20 minutes.. then go in with a soft scrubber and scrub them down... pressure wash it and you will have them lookin new!

(my husband is the detail manager of a chevy dealership here, thats what i do with mine and ive never had any problems)

Thanks for the reply, could you post a link to this product? Tried a quick google search with no luck. Who makes this product?

Thanks

Have you tried steam cleaning because steam is very effective and safe for cleaning. I was shown an article Car steam cleaning process | What is car steam clean? which describes the car steam cleaning process and has tips on choosing a tool. I liked that I can clean with steam without the use of chemicals, which is not harmful to health, and the steam also disinfects. Recommend.
