Cobalt exhaust mod...

Not sure if it's the same for you guys, but here's a good tip if you haven't already heard it.

On the Ion Redline, there is actually a 2.5" exhaust that runs 90% of the car. The only section that is 2.25", like it's listed in the information for the car, is the pipe right in front of the muffler. Replace that sucker, and you have a full blown 2.5" exhaust.

Check and see if it's the same. I'm having it done this weeked, should be less than $100 if I re-use the same stock muffler.

Should be less then that, if you're only replacing that one piece. Unless you're wanting to make flanges for that one piece. But if you're only going to have them cut out that part and weld on a 2.5" pipe on it, shouldn't cost more then 30 bucks. Shouldn't be a hard job for a muffler shop.

I'm hoping not, the piece is also bent like mad, I think a straighter pipe would be better as well, but I haven't looked at WHY it's bent like that. I'm assuming it's for suspension clearance.

I believe that someone over the the RLFs got the pipe, muffler, and the install for $140. Not sure what he paid for the muffler though.
I'm sure when somebody ever comes out with a catback it'll straighten the pipe out enough to be safe and replace the stock muffler. Magnaflow will probably have one out pretty soon, if not already. But I'll probably have to have a custom exhaust done anyways cause I want dual tips.
P.S. thanx for the tip man thats awesome!!!
