i went down to irwindale in my redline yesterday and talked to some people that are getting a cobalt ss from gm to test out. I asked when they were going to bring it down and they said possibly next week but for sure within a month...racing is on thursdays, check in starts at 4 for irwindale speedway. I was very exited to hear of its release..although they informed me cobalts wont be widly available for still a couple of months.

by the way here was my best time slip in my bone stock redline on stock tires...

R/T....792
60'.....2.273
330....6.275
1/8....9.523
MPH...75.35

i still had wheel hop on this run and am sure i can run a 9.4 but itll be awhile before im back at the track. if anyone could tell me how to calculate my 1/4 that would be great. thanks in advance.

1/4 miles are generally a lil over 150% of your 1/8 mile times.

For instance if you run your 9.4 then by the time you hit the 1/4 then it'll probably be a around (9.4x1.5=14.1) probably a couple of .10s slower than that. 14.3-5. Shoot for a 14.25, it'll give you a goal to hit!

Reason being avg speed and wind resistance, etc.:

Ok your 1/8 was:
R/T....792
60'.....2.273
330....6.275
1/8....9.523
MPH...75.35
So your average speed is (0+75.35)/2 or starting speed=0 plus end speed=75.35 sum divided by 2 = 37.675mph average speed during 1/8 mile.
Well being that you are already travelin TWICE as fast than your 1/8mile ending speed then you should cover the last 1/8 in half the time since your already goin twice as fast (or faster due to acceleration) right. Which would be 14.1 or better. Well not actually. You have to figure in wind resistance, track conditions, and gearing changes, etc. which change from area to area, track to track and car to car. So in actuality you normally run a lil slower than 150% of your 1/8 mile time.

General street cars- doesn't really apply to mega-hp all out drag cars you see on tv! LOL

Oh and by the way thats impressive! An SRT-4 in my area could only muster a 9.87 at the track (which I know isnt good for an SRT-4) but still you would've outdriven him and fairly taken out an SRT!!

Actually that's neat too see. That Motortrend article (er was it C&D? whatever) that compared the SS and the SRT4 actually showed that the SS was faster off the line. SS was in the lead up to 30mph, 40, 50mph, and the SRT4 only overtook it by one tenth to 60mph.

So it's not all that surprising that you'd turn in a better 1/8 time in a Redline than an SRT4. Booo turbo lag. :)

Yeah that means if you race from red light to red light you should beable to take out a SRT-4 MAYBE but you will beable to put up a fighting chance.

Yea, i know about the saleen focus. It has a cool body kit and suspension, but the engine is bone stock, except that the car is nitrous ready. ABd thing about that is that as soon as you actually USE the n20, your warrantee is expired!! Pretty lame. Then they have ther gaul to charge 25k for the thing!

And yes, they do hit 60 in 2nd

Yeah I read that once you use the nitrous it did void the warranty, and I also read that it wasn't actually ready for nitrous, that it was only "ready" to be hooked up. Like it was installed all the way up to the engine and then disconnected... :( Said you had to actually hook it up yourself and that is when it voided your warranty.

Oh well I still think it was a cool concept! (concept as in idea not actual concept car cause I know they did produce a few of em)

Yeah i heard about them to and thought that was so stupid for them to do that they would have been better just supercharging it.
