Sounds about right to me. The last time me and my buddy went it was hot and the best his SS's did was 14.8. He has done better!!!
Its real hot out wait until the fall and ur see some 14.5s.CoBIZZLE said:I expect much better times to come.. not impressed by a 14.7....
SS's huge heavy wheels hold it back. If somebody grabs up some Racing Harts or something and goes down the track, I wouldn't be suprised to see a tenth or so gained just from less rolling mass. Rolling mass is the enemy.CoBIZZLE said:Well there has already been a Redline run a 14.3 (no LSD) sooo... those are the times Im gonna be waitin on seein for the SS...
Yeah, rolling mass is the enemy, but has anybody actually weighed your rims? I know the RL rims are roughly 17lbs each, give or take a pound for differences in scales. HitTheCones, a GM engineer, said the wheels are actully not that heavy. So I'd be interested in seeing the actual weight of your rims.Dan Richards said:SS's huge heavy wheels hold it back. I actually weight the wheel w/tire when I painted my calipers and (this was on a cheap scale though) it weighed in @ 22lbsBlue04RedLine said:Yeah, rolling mass is the enemy, but has anybody actually weighed your rims? That's what I was saying. The factory 17's on the RL's are actually forged aluminum, polished to a "chrome like" finish, so they're shinyphxSS said:22lbs with tire? That's actually not bad for factory 18's
