The gm performance parts head is 1500 bucks had it priced out today. Thats alot of money for a unloaded head.(no valves, springs, ect. . .. .) No core either so it def isnt it worth it to me.
Depends what you wanna do, and how serious the heads are. For a stock car, yeah, $1500 on a head probably isn't your best bang/buck. If you want to make 400hp, I bet you a nice CNC ported head will be pretty irreplacable! $1500 isn't too out there, as far as heads go. V8 guys pay $2800 for a set of good aluminum heads, and those are old pushrod stuff that aren't as complicated as 4V heads.
yea but v8 guys are buying 2 heads your buying 1 unloaded head thats just ported and polished. For 1500 bucks rather take my own head off and have it done.
Right, but that's 2 TWO valve heads, not a four valve head, which is considerably more complicated to cast. And people pay $2000+ for unloaded heads..
I'm not saying it's cheap. Hell I wouldn't fork out $1500 for one. I'm just saying for what it is, it's certainly not an unfair price... pretty normal.
