Yeah i know i heard that this morning on the way to school.
:( That sucks alot GM is not doing so hot.
Well, it's not that the company is getting rid of them. Rather, there will be about 25,000 hourly workers retiring by 2008. That's not unreasonable considering the average age. You guys have to remember that Rick had to show the investors something big or his head would roll. So, he said one thing and the media took it another way.

The biggest difference is that the company will not replace those workers.

Ooooo ok thanks for giveing us the info. Thanks i was confused it sounded like GM ways laying off a bunch of people.
UAW is killing GM but those greedy bastards dont care!
United Auto Workers, the union that the GM plant workers in the U.S belong to.
Oh, so are they part of the reason that GM is havin a hard time now??
Well I'll keep my political comments to myself on this one, but I do recommend some reading on the subject. I've worked (and currently do) with some of the finest UAW workers in the business, but I also know some bums. It really depends. That said, they do make a lot of money and their healthcare is better than mine. Does that mean that they are draining the company? That's mostly a question to answer for yourself.
