Hey guys.

Well, a few weeks ago (basically right after I bought it), my headlight started getting really bad condensation in it. The passenger one. Now, I replaced my headlight bulbs, but nothing got in. so today, my dad took the Cobalt down (I'm in school, so I got the Monte today). We had an appointment. He went down there and told them what was going on. They saw if they had any replacement headlight in stock. Thery sold the last one yesterday. Thus, none in stock. However, the guy went out into the new car lot, took one off of the new Cobalt, and put it on my car. Then when they get the new one ordered in, they'll put it on the new Cobalt outside who now has only one eye. now THAT's service.

Yeah when I needed an EBCM for my car and they were on 'infinite' back-order they 'tried' to take one out of another Cobalt for me. The response I got was something about it affecting their bottom line. I just got my car back today they finally fixed it along with a ton of crap they did to the interior while they were working on it. So far I am still not totally happy but at least my car is running again and only three of 6 issues on cosmetics are still outstanding.

Actually...my only problem that I didn't even notice until last night was that they replaced the ENTIRE assmebly, not just the housing. So they took one of my Silverstars with them. lol. So I had to go get another sinlge bulb, then screw around with the poorly designed headlight/headlight area to get the new one installed.

Who else here hates the difficulty level of doing ANYTHING to the headlights? I think i might just kill myself if I have to fiddle around with the headlight assembly ever again. lol.

many people think the dealerships should pull parts from other cars on the lot, but honestly, i would hate to find out i bought a car that was picked apart for parts. that's just wrong.

I understand where you're coming from. Bottom line though is that GM has a major problem right now getting parts for the Cobalt period. Why should a customer that has already paid them have to let their car sit. Besides maybe GM should take a day or two off from building them to get some parts in-stock for those of us that are on the road already.

I take you haven't had anything break yet that had a two to four month push on the part availability?

yes, i have. after 2 weeks of owning the car they had to replace the computer. that took almost a month. then a month after i had the car back the shifter assembly came off. they had to redesign it and it got stuck in customs coming from japan. the way i look at it, gm pays for a rental car and you save the miles on your own car...not to mention, i called gm on the lemon law and they doubled my warranty and gave me $1500 to keep the car.
