what up everyone, i am planning on pickin up my SS soon. my friend has a civic with a 98 gsr motor and trans. he keeps challanging me to a race. u think the gsr could take the ss??

that will b 1 good race. never underestimate vtec being that they r known turbo killers. it will b a very close race being that a honda is light on its feet. i have raced a few hondas and i have beat them. so i would say u will win. btw the car i beat them in was my 95 eclipse gst w/ a filter and no cat.

Trying to race a car like this in hypotheticals is NOT going to get you the correct answer. There are WAY to many variables to put in. A honda in its own stance is not that fast a car, but some people can do great things with them. On the other hand, some of the owners out there have NO CLUE as to what function over visual is.

A Civic with a GSR swap is a high 13, low 14 car. It'd be a very good race.

That said, I'd reccommend breaking your car in properly before racing it and fucking it up.

cobalt ss kicks gsr in the ass

i bouught my cobalt ss in indiana and on my way back to wyoming with a ladie and both our luggage in the trunk and back seat i had a paramedic in a gsr integra pull up next to me on my way to mcdonalds somewhere in iowa. i rolled down my window and asked what he had done and he said a type r chip cold air intake and a full two and a quarter exhaust. i said cool rolled up my window and proceeded to wax his ass. so there ya go. gsr stands no chance.

A Civic is lighter than a GSR; ~500lbs. or so, depending on generation, trim, etc.

It may stand a chance.

well my intake only redline inched out my buddies 95 civic hatchback with a gsr swap. his best time at the track was a 14.2 at 97 mph too.

"supercharged engines don't generally use blow off valves. Its not unheard of, but its not very common."
"Any good system with a centrifugal supercharger will have a blow off valve.
Screw-type chargers integrated into the intake manifold do not need blow off valves since they appear downstream of throttle body."
