Check this out. RSM Racing ALREADY has a supercharger setup for the 2.2L Cobalts. Doesn't surprise me though, they probably just modified the Cavy's S/C setup. 60hp increase claim. That will be right on target w/ the SS's hp! I think it would be cool! Here's a link:

RSM Racing S/C for 2.2L Cobalts

They also already have brake, suspension, carbon hood and trunk, and other upgrades as well.

Also look for a stage 2 to come out soon they generally claim around an 85hp increase on their stage 2's! That would be on par w/ an SRT-4!!!

Well shit that is awsome that might make some things interesting. A regular 2.2L Cobalt takeing down SRT-4's that would be one hell of a sight.
I might not have to wait for my SS then i might just make my own version to my likeing. Hummm.......

It would be cheaper too. A regular Cobalt would run around $17K and the S/C is around $3K so thats a good $3K less than an SS! Then you would still have room for other mods.
I know but you would have to invest a little more into the regular 2.2L cobalt for you LSD and other things like that.
CoBIZZLE said:
Well from what I hear they are runnin $22-23K withOUT the LSD in some dealers!!! That extra $3K or so would easily buy a limited slip.
Yeah i know but i am going to make the Chevy dealer neer me beg for my sale i will talk them down as low as i can get them. I won't let them screw me on the sale of a car.
CoBIZZLE said:
Well in that case one could do the same on a regular Cobalt.
Yeah but why not do it for the SS?

BTW here is a link to the auto dealer neer me that has ALOT of Cobalts.

I dont know why not, so thats why Im gettin an SS :D . But I think it would be cool for someone to do somethin different like tunin the regular Cobalt!
I would but i dont have the time nor the money so that is not for me right now it would need to be soomone who has some money and alot of time to do it.
CoBIZZLE said:
Yeah but somebody'll do it! And I want to see it!
So damn tempting it would be a good idea because there are so many Damn base models around here that it is sicking and the one thing that it would be a complete "sleeper".

Also for the 2.2L the Phase 5 Cobalt uses a 2.2L and they will be sellin the individual parts for it!!! See my other post in the thread about Cobalts hittin 12's.
Wow really awsome the more and more i find out how many thing that are coming out for the 2.2L Cobalt the more and more i want to get a 2.2 and supercharge it and make a sleeper out of it.
CoBIZZLE said:
For a daily driver, I probably would supercharge it, generally less problems, but for a racer, I'd go turbo on the 2.2L!
Yeah i would need a daliy driver and i would like to keep some half decent gas mileage.
CoBIZZLE said:
Well you could turbo it, give it a boost controller, turn it down durin the week, and KEEP YOUR FOOT OUT OF IT!! LOL j/k
That would be very hard to do that if i had all that power at demand i will like to use it. And plus i would rather supercharge it because it would be much easier to hide because most dont need to be intercooled.
CoBIZZLE said:
Well a turbo doesn't NEED to be intercooled either. Its just better, just like it is for S/C. Banks Power makes a lot of turbo systems for small blocks and they dont use turbo's on most, and maybe none of their kits use intercoolers.
A turbo will get real freckin hot and has a better chance of over heating. My dad's boss is buliding up a twin turbo Hemi for his truck and not intercooling but the down side is cant do long drives.
CoBIZZLE said:
S/C's create a lot of heat too! Thats one of the issues with the Cobalt SS's. Nobody is sure wether or not you'll be able to put a S/C pulley on it to increase boost or not cause a lot of folks think that it'll just create excessive amounts of heat!
Yeah true it might just do that but not as much as a turbo. A turbo produces so much heat.

I bought my base model SS for 20k plus tax, title, liscence, etc.

So, unless someone bought a Cobalt really cheap, and then had some money leftover, I dont think its a fair comparison. Theres a huge difference in computer programming, engine build quality and components, etc between a factory forced induction motor (SS) and a non forced induction motor (ls, lt cobalts)
Yeah that is why i am iffy about it i dont know about the other Cobalt's if they will handle the extra power. I am worried it would hurt the car.
